Hot Tubs!

What a mess....

Image

I will always try to keep my posts and opinions to a minimum..So I will keep this short..

DO you Like Hot Tubs?

Do they add any...value to the home?

We have this 475 gallon hot tub that I use all the time. When we first got it 4 years ago. It is not hard to take care of and my husband will drain and clean it 4 times a year. In the summer we turn it into a Cold Tub We moved it over on he patio and rotated it two years ago. I also have a folding canvas gazebo that I put up over it on hot days in the summer. Well… The bad news is the thing has had a leak for at least the past 2 years. I would notice moist areas along one side but dismissed it as.. Oh it rained a couple of days ago…condensation.. So when I went to refill it a couple of weeks ago I decided to take the sides off and see why there was still moisture after over a week with no rain. It had a leak! And the foam inside was all wet! So My husband Scott went digging into the foam and found a bad joint. Also all the wood was so rotted it fell apart. So off to the hot tub dealer he went. He said the dealer tells me: "Yea they leak but the new ones have this great foam that you won't find the leaks for years"
WOW.. I feel so good about that…. A $8,000 dollar top of the line hot tub out of warranty that has leaked for years… So Scott covers the bad joint with this "SPECIAL EPOXY" Special because it's $12.00 a tube.
Well the new base is treated lumber and the new frame of 2x3's is in. I cleaned everything up and Scott refilled it and I hope I get a couple of more years out of it before it falls apart. So .. I'll make a pitcher of margaritas

Gross!!

Personally, I'm not nuts about them. The constant loud bubbling gives me a headache and I can never really relax while I'm in one. I'm too busy making sure my swimming suit doesn't fill up with bubbles (so don't wear one, yeah, yeah, I know, but this is my PARENTS hot tub, lol!!), and constantly shifting and being jostled around.

What I like is to get really really HOT.

That means a dry heat sauna. Boy, do I love dry heat saunas!!

But I was once in a hot tub that I could really dig, and so could you. Maybe they still make them. It was the old fashioned round wooden barrel type spa, with just a plastic liner to make it leakproof and insulated. They were no silly shaped plastic seats and no AIR bubbles rumbling through it. You just turned on the heater and COOKED. Man! That was GOOD!

They were cheap, too.

My brilliant-hippie-high-school-friend Gail had one, and she and I and her equally brilliant brother Richard used to get in there and soak.

Being nekkid in a hot tub with your friends while still in high school definitely enhances the experience, lol.

I love hot tubbin. It's so relaxing, especially on a cool night under the stars with steaming hot coffee and a few nice fatties all rolled up for meditational enhancement.
I wish I could go get in one now.....
Love this post, made me feel really good when I was readin it, thank you for sharing it!

when we happen to be in the mall, the boyz love to hit the hot tub store. they climb up the liddle latters and peak inside and ooh and ahh at the buttons and lights. outside of the playground, it's their favorite place to be.
and knowing i'm so eager to fight cant make letting me in any easier.

I thought that things exist only in places like Finland or somewhere like that... I prefer swimming pools in summer and veryyy hot showers in winter.
