Flowers

Post by KellyScott » June 26th, 2006, 8:43 am

I just love flowers. I buy them at the grocery store when I do my food shopping and put them in different places in the house. When we planted a garden this year we put in some Sun Flower seeds..... well here are the results.
Sun flowers always look like their smiling.

I have killed more plants than Agent Orange. But the last two years I have turned myself around. I have a little garden going. It is my quiet place. A three by six zone of peace.

My zinnias are coming on strong. I have no idea what they will look like when they bloom. Last year it was morning glories. I have not trusted my self to plant more than one kind of flowers at a time.

LOL :D

I have had real good luck with Yellow Tomatoes the past two years. I get so many I give them away. I make gazpacho and salsa and am thinking of making my own Yellow Ketchup.

I had good luck with my grape tomatoes last summer. This year my plants are struggling. I am thinking about starting over.

I am feasting on Roma's now. Home grown, a gift from a neighbor. I can live on tomatoes. :D

I'm catching up on old postings that I missed while out of town ...

Those are beautiful Kelly! Have any more pictures? Updates?

And, I'd like to try one of your yellow tomatoes - they look delicious. Looks like you have a large, sunny backyard - perfect for growing many, many things.

I've planted so many trees in my backyard it's become so shaded in most places that I have only one spot where it gets enough sun to grow my veggies. This year in my small spot I'm growing, strawberries, tomatoes (cherry and 'Ace' red), and bell peppers and they’re doing "okay," not as productive yet as last years because we put them in almost a full month later than usual due to the extra rains we had this spring. I've never tried growing sunflowers, even though I love them, because I know I don't have the all day sunny place necessary for their growth. Not even in our front yard.

But I love sunflowers ... and can't help but smile when I see those big, bright blossoms smiling down on me.
