On the road again......

Post by YABYUM » July 18th, 2006, 6:30 pm

The road has beckoned once again, this time all roads lead to Vegas. I hear that construction is booming out there, and it is perfectly legal to walk around drinking beer in the streets. Sounds like eden. I'm no gambler, but I sure like the idea of free booze. I miss city life. My buddy out there tells me it's like nothing I have ever seen in my decade of travels. I guess it was bound happen, Yabyum and Vegas. Sounds like a nice place to begin my thirties. Maybe I'll try life as an Elvis impersonater. I'm excited as all hell, bus leaves Astoria 8am next Tuesday. I had a nice year here, but I can't wait until it's in the rearview mirror. A big thanks to Miss Hester Prynne for being a great help in getting planted out here. I'll let you know how the journey goes.........VIVA LAS VEGAS!!!!!!

yab,

I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. I tried to find you a ride to get you here for the Cabaradio but was unsuccessful. Wish you could be here.

I know that you will conquer Vegas.

ah vegas. i need to go there.

when the kids grow into summer camp age, i think pel and i will take a road trip out there, in a few years. something like here to chi-town then west towards denver then to vegas then out to sanfrancisco and up the coast to big sur, then maybe back through the southern straightaways. something like a pilgrimage to be sure. i didnt used to be attracted to vegas, but i think i'll like it now. i'm so much younger now.

have some kicks!

and knowing i'm so eager to fight cant make letting me in any easier.

Filthy lucre of Vegas.... and its stripped, curving deserts, outside the gate.... mind expansion, definitely.

Fear? Perhaps. Loathing? Most likely. Kicks? Kicks are the very spine to the body wich holds my gypsy soul. Good ole L'Rod.....I wish I could make the trip, I do indeed. Perhaps one day soon I'll make it east again, but for now, I am intent on devouring the west as I already have the east, south, north and central of Sweet America. The bus has a 4 hour delay in L.A. right smack in the middle of the day, I can't wait to see Los Angeles. Been a goal for a while. I'll actually see quite alot of Cali, Arizona, and pretty much all the states that border Nevada. My brother in the struggle out there works in the geological feild and knows the terrain well. He's painted me a picture of random surf trips to Cali and moon lit drinking bouts over looking the grand canyon......Giddy Up! Maybe it's time I invest in a digital camera so I can actually share images. (sad when I think about the hundred or more cities I've been to and never took pictures, just written words) Enjoy the show Clay and Doreen. I know you've worked your collective ass off creating it. I'll be there in spirit, with all it's drunken outrages. Have a beer for me!

One thing free is the conversations I have had with people there. Not at the gaming tables, but sitting at the counter in the coffee shop. Interesting characters worth listening too. I mean the permanent residents, not the tourists.

Happy trails. Happy landings
