doctors?????????
last week the
physicians assistant
said, "Do you think
God is paying people back(w/cancer)
for the lifestyles they have led?"
wired jaw hits the floor & I am totally speechless
about this comment from a seemingly intelligent
young lady,
result: my wife has chemo that day and spends a weekend in
agony obcessing on this stupid remark.
venting I am venting...yeah
now it's today and we visit the doc's again
this time we have problems, lumps like
jellybeans have appeared where the
masectomy took place, any talk about
God is ludicrous right about now you'd think,
so the head oncologist checks the lumps out
and orders up a team of pathologists to do a biopsy
and while we're waiting for the gang to come she lays
this on us, "If you don't see a psychologist like I have recommended
I will discontinue your chemo treatments."
I tell you what, when I get cancer, I'm heading for the hills
and I'm gonna keep walkin till i die.........

Medicine is an art, not a science

There must be a better hospital in Baltimore.

I would call it Malpractice.

A violation of "First of all do no harm."
It is the opinion of many scholars that Hippocrates did, in fact, originate the phrase, but did so in his Epidemics, Bk. I, Sect. XI. One translation reads: "Declare the past, diagnose the present, foretell the future; practice these acts. As to diseases, make a habit of two things — to help, or at least to do no harm."

The Greek "First, do no harm" becomes "Primum non nocere" in Latin. A translation of the original perhaps, but some sources attribute "Primum non nocere" to the Roman physician, Galen.

Today there is no single oath that all physicians take upon entering practice. Depending on where they earn their medical degrees, they may take any one of many pledges, but all embody the ethics and ideals of Hippocrates, the acknowledged father of modern medicine.

it's time to be
serious...(game face)

i've felt it all along &
it's something that
is hard for a free
spirit to understand.

(controlled cruelty)
it all boils
down to
you gotta watch
what you say,
& that's just
the way i feel.

poetry & writing
has been
teaching me this,
i am
an ever learner...............this is all about her......

"Do you think
God is paying people back(w/cancer)
for the lifestyles they have led?"
strange that someone involved in hospitaliarn medicine said that
they can say you instead (so easily) : your whoever have cancer, they won't die because (the sintom you are asking help for..), cool people.
fuck with that idea of karma
you're suffering plus they make you feel guilty about it
suffering's a mistery
no linear something or nothing
"I tell you what, when I get cancer, I'm heading for the hills
and I'm gonna keep walkin till i die........."
It's ok, but be sure to have a big morphine dose too, just in case.

If I had cancer I would sail away

If all other hope is gone, I hope a good death will find me.

she awoke with a
smile early this
morning....
i ran the dog
who dug up the
pitchers mound
musta been a
spitter.....
zorba chased the
ball till he laid down
with a "take me home'
look in his eyes.....
we got what i always
expected from the
medical profession.....
of course there are no
guarantees dear doctors....

from Dying by Rumi:
"listen to what anyone says
as though it were the last words
of a father to his son.
listen with that much compassion,
and you'll never feel jealousy
or anger again."

I would not let her out of my sight for two weeks

No idea what happened
Doctors with miracle machines and no compassion
Thank you for the Rumi quote
exactly what I been trying to do.

mercy raga bluez
that PA was stupid
the doc was even stupider still
i would be fucking pissed
they don't make noxious statements about people being punished by God
made to be sick by the Allmighty
i would be furious
you shoulda spoke right up and voiced your outrage
an th doc who demanded she go to a shrink or
he'd cut off the chemo?
that is worth not only a complaint,
but also a deep suspicion
about his intellect
which translates into less than optimal care,
less than optimal diagnostics,
even the same path report
can be interpreted differently,
is she estrogen sensitive?
have they targeted her metabolic cellular profile
to optimize dose and effect?
you should be at johns hopkins, friend,
or some affiliate hospital,
with a doctor who has priv·i·leges there,
oncologists can be either approachable or not,
and i'd fire the fucker,
but the rub is continuity of care
you can do it, tho,
and if she sees a shrink,
i'd reccommend a female nurse practitioner in psychiatry,
it can help with motivation,
endurance,
resilience, and
nutritional status,
is she being treated aggressivley enough?
are they seemingly non-plussed,
except when they utter their moronic shibboleths?
yes,
i am a cancer nurse,
i am in a good place,
where the heart is always there in Presence,
and clinically astute physicians as well,
It's my jewel mine,
and the place is loaded,
topaz and am·e·thyst ,
rubiez and sapphirez,
emeraldz and diamondz,
all in the rough,
no doubt,
we be jammin
and soulful
an beat
down for th count
then
up again,
today is my sister's birthday,
margaret, you been gone awhile,
yet i remember you were the other radical child
you were marching in washington
when i was in the war
an you were the one i told when
i was gonna bail out,
fuck the war machine,
and happy birthday, sister,
she had a brain stem tumor,
i still got her old letters,
i could never grieve more than then,
but she shined and her Ann Arbor friends
loved her even more,
and the folks planted her ashes
with a flowering crabapple tree
still there,
in an arbor,
sheltering birds
and lovers.

passed pissed jimbo
passed sick of watching
the whole damn system
from the murder down the
street the other day, to
watching as this gang of
hoodlums sells drugs outside
my house all the live long day,
watching a city turn it's back
to it's decay, i'm appalled that
because a woman is honest &
different (artist) she get's treated like
a piece of shit by these fuckers
cj wants to get thru this mess
by grinning and bearing it
she's half-way thru the chemo
now, she is stage 4 jimbo and
she has a big ? mark regarding a
tumor they saw on an mri in her
pancreas, she's gettin a scope
the 16th and we are both overwhelmed
by it all, it's just outrageous & the
bottom line is she was honest about
drinking and taking depression medication
and now she's paying for it big time......

so she can't drink whilst taking the chemo
a bit of wine tho,
or pot,
and don't tell,
if she is a bit depressed,
oh well, offer support and
take it a day at a time
thanks for sharing and glad we know
the scope might show or not a spot
so what?
but i'd follow the doc on this one
taxol and carboplatin
eat bananas
watch for fevers
fatigue
bruising or bleeds
the 3 cardinal signs
cbc's cmp's, and lots of sweet time
in between
