Who are we kidding? We'll never stop war. People will fight in wars until they destroy the planet.

By our very natures, we have anger and defensiveness. We want to take care of our families and protect them. We get angry when someone crosses a line and threatens our loved ones. So we fight. We fight because we love. We get defensive because we must defend what we love.

This won't ever stop.

The only peace we can have is inner peace. Without being peaceful inside, there is no peace on the planet.

I'm worried I'm losing my idealism.

I don't know if world peace is possible. I started this jam beleiving it is. I preach "give peace a chance," as spoken by the wise one, Mr. Lennon. I preach, "peace is possible" like Michael Bonnano's song. I know "peace is for the brave" as Barry Gremillion says.

But today? I don't know if peace is possible. I'm afraid it might be impossible.

Not many really gives a shit about peace.

I'm depressed about it.

The world is being destroyed by our selfishness. We are destroying the planet and killing each other.

I don't know if it can be turned around in time.

Maybe we're destined for self annihilation.

Somebody help me out here, would ya? I need a more positive outlook.

My mountain be; and let me rise above
your lonely summit like a virgin first
illumination, bright on glacial flesh
and warm on nakedness. My ladder be
against the eschaton divine; and should
I pass high chevron skies and glory in
the airy thinness over you, allow
me yet to climb. And know I loved you now,
but preview my apology: I sin
as greatly as I love you. If I could,
I’d swift surpass you, dominate and flee—
I’d kill, control and condescend. Yet fresh
as honesties present, such also burst
with truth: I cannot match your peaces, love.

I furnished home with simple peace—
a puppy warm upon my shoe.
I furnished home with simple peace—
a yellow flick of candles through
late August dreary, rainy blue
late Sunday afternoon; for you
I furnished home. With simple peace,
too many pups and candles few.

home again
i am glad to see such a spread of scrolledpages
an i will read thru them all
and i know i will find inspiration and sustenance
because we are survivors for peace

alternatives to not-peace
like
ahimsa
not that i am completely non-violent
infact i know i have a capacity for it
yet pray every day
for peace in my own heart
without which i could not carry on.
just sit and know your breath......know your mind as it really is and you will know peace.......sit not just for you but with peacefull intentions for all sentient beings......
i got a peaceprayer from artguy
somethin ya cannot buy
think i'll try

ah i remember when i thought we had won the peace
then
a few small wars
and then another big one
desert storm
an th military hoopla that ensued an
even in taichi some body said
"there's a bomb over baghdad!"
an i yelled right there
an split
i was forlorn
so i went to the quakers
to see how they dealt with it
an they did
sat in silence
waiting for leadings
and got them
an at least i knew i wasnot alone

now i have what the quakers have
a stubborn persistence
both sad and happy at once
and still believe that
common sense
is better that assholes in command

the cultural rift has been established
are we generative enough to nurture it
and sustain it
with subtleties and exhortations and
simply becoming new and different.

peace is a pipedream.
scream.

that's perfect.

we need a poll.
who wants to keep this going?
who wants to let it go?
peace is possible?
peace cannot happen.
it all happens in our souls.

i donno what to do.
i'll leave it up to you.

do you want to keep a peace jam going?
or let it go and just pray?
