Marcela Serrano / El albergue de las mujeres tristes

Post by Arcadia » September 9th, 2006, 5:11 pm

Last thursday people from the editorial of the school's text books gave us books as presents for the teacher's day. Some of the authors: Cortazar, Benedetti, Weiss and Serrano. I chose one from Serrano because of the title and the cover (a detail from Mattisse's La desserte). She is often mentioned with other writers as Isabel Allende, Laura Esquivel and Angeles Mastretta. Interesting, I'm in the second part of the book!.

Its funny how some teachers still shine in my mind from fifty years ago.
Mr Waskow, history teacher. He taught a mean course to us high school kids. The good, the bad, and the ugly Uncle Sam.

What was that bit from 1984 about who controls the present controls the past? I don't know if you noticed WD's post on culture about the ABC TV movie 9/11. They say Clinton is in touch with Disney, I hear he hired an Italian lawyer. It is significant that he did not contact ABC about the movie. He went right to the parent corporation which is where you would go to file a law suit. In a nut shell the plot of the movie is that it was all Clinton's fault.

Deb is upset and I don't blame here. The movie is going to be shown in schools as instructional materials.
I got check~that maybe I read her wrong.
Dam and I thought it was the Jews.

sorry for the Ramble, I don't know what is being taught in american schools anymore. But it sounds like you have some fine text books

I did not read much. I was joking about the Italian lawyer.
