Chris Hedges is a long-time correspondent in the Middle East. THE NEW YORK TIMES sent him to cover the Iraq War II, and he served as their Baghdad bureau chief. His book on war ( which I read) is an eye-opener. Hedges is a former classical literature scholar and recommends reading the Greeks and Romans as a way of understanding ourselves. This I personally applaud.
Here Hedges, a new columnist for TRUTHDIG, analyzes the recent movement of carrier groups and other U.S. battle machinery closer to Iran. Since one member of the neocon "axis of evil" (North Korea) just conducted a successful nuclear test, Iraq is hopelessly out of the control of its occupiers, and the Congress is experiencing a Republican "De-Foley-ation", Hedges makes some good, timely points.
A "cornered Bush" is capable of some pretty nasty moves, as we have learned.

Dennis Kucinich has composed a letter on the subject of war with Iran.
Kucinich, nearly five years ago, predicted perfectly and with 100 percent correctness Bush's aggression in Iraq and its probable consequences.
