What do you want to take with you?

Post by Lightning Rod » November 30th, 2004, 1:39 pm

For thousands of years humans have been buried with their most prized and useful possessions.

Much that we know about ancient life was determined by means of examining these artifacts.

The Egyptian kings took an elaborate compliment of goodies into the afterlife with them.

The Vikings were burned in their boats.

William Burroughs was buried with his favorite gun and his cane that had a sword inside.

When you bury me, just throw a couple of packs of Pall Malls in there, ice a few beers in the corner of the coffin, drop in a bag of reefer and toss in my flute and I'll be happy. (high speed internet would also be good)

What would you like to be buried with?

every time I see "Pell Mells"

Post by Lucy! » November 30th, 2004, 1:46 pm

I think of you and that lovely accent of yours. That night we met up in the city with Kari, Levi, Caryn and Ronnie, we were in your hotel room and you pulled out a Pall Mall and so charmingly called it a Pell Mell with that smoky Texas twang of yours. I smoked one while you and Doreen graced us with your music and it went straight to my toes. What a night.
Every time I see those Pell Mells, I think of you and I sometimes even pronounce them outloud the way you do. What great memories! Remember how I started imitating you and did my Mike Tyson impression? We couldn't stop laughing...

oh the question...

Post by Lucy! » November 30th, 2004, 1:49 pm

forgot the question...
I've thought about this before and I've come to the conclusion that I want to be buried with all of my journals- I dont want anyone flipping through my private thoughts. Its a bit morbid because if anyone I wrote about in those journals are alive, they are being buried with me but I can rest in peace knowing no one will be able to access my private work. Not that I have so much to hide but I like to keep certain things strictly personal.

WIRED,
I need to write a tune for you. Based on John Henry. You know, "john henry was a steel drivin' man. Died with his hammer in his hand" etc.

When my grandfather passed away. I wrote a poem in his honor. But I wanted the poem to be placed with my grandfather when he was being cremated. So the ashes of my poem could commingled with his and be scattered with them as well. But unfortunately I didn't make it in time. So my poem was read at his memorial sevice instead.

As for me there is that one saying you can't take it with you. So just give it away.

I was thinking of taking YOU!

If you leave me, I'm goin' with ya!

If you die on me, I'll kill you.
