Festival de poesia de Rosario

Post by Arcadia » October 23rd, 2006, 6:34 pm

XIV edition. I was listening with my friend dani (aka litkicks's denis) the readings of some poets saturday afternoon. I have to ask him for the poets I didn't listen to (I presume he stayed until the end, I listened only a few ones).
The good things about the festival: sure you'll find some poems that hit you, for most of the public is the first time to listen directly people articulating words in languages we only listened before in films.
The relative bad thing (at least for me): I can't stay quiet too much time... the readings are maratonicas and a bit desfasadas according to the previous schedules... it's a sala not a bar... I can't really enjoy receptionating too different styles and texts all together in an auditive way, I need more time and a lot of breaks.
From what I listened I liked very much two poets: Dieter Berdel from Austria (beautiful, concise images, musical sweet german) and Alvaro Rodriguez Torres from Colombia (wow!, an intense trip around light and time, short poems, direct emocionada voice). When I first saw the colombian poet his face was too familiar... after a while I realized that he was very parecido to Ginsberg..!.
In yesterday´s newspaper there is an entrevista to Rodriguez Torres:

Dani told me that he didn't stay to the end (but he listened to Leonardo Padron and he liked him: "humor in poetry or viceversa", I like that too!).

I've been searching Rodriguez Torres poems in internet (specially the ones about Kandinsky, Chagall and Turner that he read during the festival) but I didn't find them. I found only four poems -that they seems to be written by him-, this one the one that I like the most:

PARA ALGUIEN QUE NO REGRESA EN EL TIEMPO

Tu amistad como un amor no menos lúcido
una marea, que desobedece a la luna;
días de aguas altas hasta cubrir las rocas
y luego? enfática - la resaca -.
Pero la sangre sabe,
ninguna levedad impugna su destreza;
de lo vivido en aquellos días
quedan en verdad algunos momentos,
ya la invulnerable a la mala memoria
ya las pretensiones del tiempo

Llueve,
y mientras el agua me arrulla,
recuerdo y escucho
Escucho lo recuerdo?.
En ese caso estaría oyendo:
tu voz suena como un coro
no una sino muchas veces

(Rough English translation, I will mail it to dani to look at it and then make corrections - you can write your own version too !-)

FOR SOMEBODY THAT STILL NOT RETURNS FROM TIME

Your friendship like a love not less lucid
a tide that not follows the orders of the moon
days of high waters until they cover the rocks
and then? emphatic - the undertow -.
But blood knows
neither levity impugns its skill;
from the lived in those days
it remains, in fact, some moments
the invulnerable to the bad memory
the pretensions of time.

It rains,
and while the water lluls me
I remember and I listen
Do I listen do I remember?
In that case I would be listening you:
your voice sound like a chorus
not one but many times.
