my drowned-out statement on the election.

Post by mnaz » October 29th, 2006, 1:24 am

I believe in unity,
since we all came in the same, more or less,
except for the godawful cretins who presume to rule us.
But the worst part is that I don't believe in the vote.
It simply doesn't matter anymore.
Likely, it never did.
(Sorry, Abe).

Yep. 'Ol Honest Abe. Not sure what he has to do with anything here.... kinda just "threw him in".

Here's the thing. The entire system is broken. It would be better if absolutely nobody voted for the (D) or (R) Monster at all. There, I "outed" myself ("out" of the terminally cynical closet). The entire election process is one enormous corrupt filthy power-grubbing joke. These people are bought and paid for. Thom Hartman talks of the middle class being "screwed".... loss of our manufacturing sector, our disastrous trade policies, obscene corporate welfare, etc. ..... and he's right. And his numbers and stats run back 25+ years, right thru the Clinton years as well.... We are governed by huge corporations, period.

Taxation without representation? You bet. I personally fund the killing of innocents all across the globe against my will with my tax payments, as Multi-national juggernauts A-Z stake out their territory and collect their D.C. kickbacks. Why? Because I don't want to go to prison, that's why. Thoreau was a better man than I. Here in Washington, a borderline "tree-hugging" state, Sen. Maria Cantwell (D) plays the "evil corporate" card against her opponent, but she vocally supported Israel's extended severe bombing of civilians in Lebanon (with our planes and bombs) God bless America! Corporate whores, rotten to the core, the whole lot of 'em. Give me one good reason why any of them deserve my vote.

Well, I guess that makes a rant. Sorry about that. Didn't really plan it that way....

If you ran, mnaz, I'd vote for you.

But given your theory, it wouldn't matter.

Bummer.

I'd have to run as a write-in candidate.

It's the whole Demo-can/Republi-crat thing that "doesn't matter"....
the (D), or (R) beside a candidate's name signifies that they've been assimilated by the machine.... by the Borg.... Resistance is futile. Hell, they even got Picard one time....

Let's all boycott the Republicrats. Why did I bother in '04? Effin' John Kerry didn't have enough horse (face?)- sense to vote against the Iraq Resolution in '02..... "Here, Dubya, you de facto dictator, here's a blank check to start any sort of bullshit war you damn well please".... OK OK, it wasn't exactly like that, but he should have known.... I defended Kerry on this point, but I needn't have bothered....

Let's make the final score of this debacle zero to zero. Take Darth Diebold's topping out party right out of the equation...

Or..... I dunno..... maybe I'll pump the Dems after all....
at least that way I might get to watch some Congressional hearings.... could be entertainment value in that, at least....

Oh,

BAH!

Phphphphtttt...

mnaz... i'm voting. it'll be dem except for kinky friedman for gov, who more than likely won't win, but it'll be my statement as will my votes for dems. damn if we don't need a change and voting dems in will hopefully change congress. whether the change would be better is always just a hope, but it's all i've got in my vote.

I might vote, too. Too close to call. Seems like one more show-up in a long line of deadlines and variations on eternal lost patience. Might take a coin flip to settle it. Oh the volumes these elections would presume to settle. And I wish the elections luck. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Watched the election returns until late last night. Maybe I do care after all, but that is "care" with a big asterisk beside it. Claire McCaskill (Missouri senator) impressed me, and a few others I suppose, but the waves of plastic smile, fist-pumping, baby-kissing, throaty-speaking, "return to greatness (this is a recording)" mouthers of election-speak become monotonous and pointless (to state the obvious). Just give me the Montana and Virginia results and zip it. Let's at least get some friggin' oversight and "accountability" in government, if that's still possible. (Was it ever possible?)

Obviously, I've come down with a bad attitude about politics. I suggest we all have a bad attitude toward politics for awhile, until politics shows us some shred of its relevance and worth to our lives and making progress. The near-terminal cynic in me has come close to killing any activist instincts I have, but I can't let that happen-- can't completely "sign off" from the whole thing. But we need to be tougher on the plague of slash-and-burn utter nonsense that has pervaded politics the last 6 years in particular; perhaps even a little beyond "firmly polite"...

I voted. But then, my state usually agrees with me, so big deal.... Whoops, sorry.... that attitude again. Gotta admit: it was refreshing to see those arrogant mouthpieces on FOX in retreat, scratching their heads... Ahh, politics. Screw it.
