I had no right umbrella for the storm

Post by joel » November 27th, 2006, 1:05 am

I had no right umbrella for the storm
in which I chose to walk, that hurricane
that came ashore the night I learned a love
was dead— but in my young romantic heart,
no lesser storm befit my grief. And so
I pressed against the wind; I marveled in
soft blurriness in blended movements of
both warmth and wet, in limine of love
and loosest comprehended joy within
mere happenstance relationships. And though
it isn’t imagery profound, I’ll part
with false originalities above
pure love’s original invention: rein
the common understood bright loves preform.
