Tabare Vazquez sent the Army to custody Botnia... it seems it is the answer to something said by the Gualeguaychu asambleistas "we'll make the protest cross the river"... the uruguayan gov said that they are preventing a possible action a lo Bin Laden (sic) that way...

Not sure I got it all,

From Babelfish:
"we are trying to guarantee the investments that are made in Uruguay in a complex frame that there is with some citizens of the Argentine Republic", it had maintained in Montevideo when assuring that official preoccupation exists because it could "appear some Bin Laden". In the film of Nin Novoa, the neighbors of Gualeguaychú finish being turned the new protagonists of the axis of badly, but Latin American version.

who owns the coporporation that is building the paper mill?

I mean from what country is that corporation based out of. Maybe I misunderstand but it seems to me that the politicians in your country are not willing to do anything to stop the popution of the river.

Meanwhile on our border it seems like mexico is on the verge of another revolution. Strange times.

who owns the corporations that runs the pasteras?. I don't know, I only know the countries of origen, (that if a corporation can be thought in national terms).
we have a pastera a few kilometres from Rosario and it is polluting the Parana since I have memory... (mmmm, I guess I told about it already) but we didn't do the things that some of the people of Entre Rios are doing.
I think our government have to look also the indoors environment problems and they won't or can't do it. They let the people do (they want to be political correct and not labeled as represors), but they don't support them (us) seriously.

I guess you are right
what matter what nation the corporation is a citizen of, multi-nationals have diplomatic immunity, there was a Swiss company trying to build a cement plant on the Hudsun Rirver in upstate NY. They had all the local politicians paid off (bribed) but the citizens stopped it anyway, minor miracle.

We got the best deomocratic government money can buy. I am trying to think of one government anywhere that is not about commerce?

homo-economucous
gone the way of hydrocarbon man
filthy lucre
for a long time I thought the bible said money is the root of all evil
but it is the love of money that is the root of all evil.
But I think that maybe facile
money just an abstract symbol for power
it is the love of power that is at the heart of all suffering.

sorry for the ramble

with or without love or money, it seems in these times to choose to be a citizen? is something like a full time job, it's ok but the situation is at some point a bit hard and a bit weird (maybe in all times was more or less the same, I don't know).

I got some of it. what is a "wastebaskets" is that like a sewage treatment plant?

I guess we are making some progress here. They say Bush's record on the enviorment is fair to good. I find that hard to believe considering the quality of his political appointees.

Not to change the subject but I wonder what is happening on our soft under belly down on the rio grande. The presidente in old Mexico had to be escorted by the military to reach the podium to take his oath of office.

Not much of conversation but so many words, Babel fish don't allways connect the dots.

Did Argentina ratify the Kyoto accords I wonder?

In order to guarantee the arrival to the beach
Cash to the operative one of security in Buquebús were added yesterday. In Gualeguaychú today, the environmentalists will make another assembly to analyze if they will send themselves to cut the terminal or they are contented with volanteadas the tourists. The neighbors answer to him the public prosecutor whom he loves to dissuade them. Piqueteros groups would participate.

In the terminal of ferries several controls settled that the passengers had to be drawing for before being able to enter.

Greenpeace, in against
"it does not harm the companies"

By Werner Pertot
It is not near being Toma from the Hem, but possible the blockade of Buquebús concentrated all the attention in the conflict of the wastebaskets. On the one hand, a Buenosairean public prosecutor noticed that they will be stopped who try to surround the terminal of the company of ferries. The Government seems determined to draw up a line in the sand before this measurement of protest. On the other hand, the leader of the Current Clasista and Combativa (CCC), Juan Carlos Alderete, assured that that "does not scare to him" and announced that he will participate to the assemblies claypits along with and the parties of left. This could imply a jump in the masividad and confliction of the protest. In Gualeguaychú today, the environmentalists will make another assembly to analyze if they will send themselves to cut the terminal or they are contented with volanteadas the tourists.

With the clear intention to dissuade any spying of cut, the number of uniformed of Prefecture continued growing yesterday in front of the dock berth of Buquebús, where it is bet the group Albatrosses - supplied with bullet-proof vests and green berets and the Federal Police. Several controls settled that the passengers had to be drawing for before being able to enter the terminal. A boat coastguard vessel furrowed the shore to the hunting of any boat that can prevent the exit of the ships that leave towards Colony and Montevideo.

To the unfolding, public prosecutor Martín Lapadú added of office a series of "directors it express" the head of Prefecture to prevent a blockade of the terminal. "If there are manifestations in the doors of Buquebús that prevent the entrance or exit of the people, or affect the public service of passengers, the Prefecture must intimar to the cease of the disobedience, to work performances, and if they do not obey, it must come itself to the halting", noticed the public prosecutor, that it argued that "is much more simple, economic and effective to try to dissuade the demonstrators so that they do not make this type of manifestations".

To take the ship

"This contravencional public prosecutor has a pile of subjects of what taking care, of medio.ambiente, and is even desperate because we are going to declare in Buquebús. It is our constitutional right ", got angry Oscar Bargas, one of the members of the assembly of Gualeguaychú. "I have seen in the television people recontracajetilla in the tail of Buquebús speaking well of the environmentalists. That gives forces you ", commented to this newspaper. "We are evaluating how he is going away to carry out the action, because we have seen that they are hoping to us", affirmed numerous Bargas on the operative one of security.

The neighbors continue privily analyzing the possibility of sending the blockade to the ferries. Today there will be a new assembly in which the subject will struggle. "we are not going to announce it in the assembly openly, because we have several Uruguayan journalists whom they observe to us", he indicated Bargas. The legal equipment of the assembly was analyzing the declarations of the public prosecutor, while a commission worked in contact with the organizations in Buenos Aires, with the reserve of a film of spies. "It is that a civil employee stuck a tight one to him to one of the members of an assembly. We are trying to preserve the companions ", indicated in Gualeguaychú, where doubts exist on the feasibility of the measurement.

"the Government is driven crazy so that we do not go: they are not going to let to us arrive nor at General Paz ", was one of the commentaries that were listened to in Gualeguaychú, where the climate was of extreme prudence before the possibility of guaranteeing a blockade of the hyperguarded terminal. "we are not going to go there to that they garroteen to us. At the most we would have to do panfleteada. Our wave is pacific ", argued one of the neighbors.

Piquetero support

"Our organization - and I personally, who I have been stopped by the dictatorship always has run that risk: to be process, to be left prisoners. That does not scare to me. What it worries to me is that it could have repression ", indicated Alderete to Página/12. "we are not invited, we are affected direct. It is in game the health of my family also ", maintained the piquetero leader, who affirmed that he will participate in the possible pole like" member "of the Environmental Assembly of Gualeguaychú.

Alderete assured that the CCC comprise - although not like organization of the Environmental Assembly of Gualeguaychú. "We are part of the assembly. Of course that we decided there not to identify itself but to be part like the rest of the members of an assembly. We are going to accompany any decision. We are not going to do nothing by outside which the assembly decides ", the leader of the CCC explained. From Gualeguaychú, they confirmed that good wave "with the piquetero leader exists", who helped to coordinate the march of the environmentalist organizations to Seat of May.

The irruption of the group, that already did two you in the last encamp in Seat of May months, could imply a scaling in the confliction of the protest. "the leaders of the assembly, who are new, must consider that can process be stopped and", it indicated Alderete, that did not discard any possibility. "we are arranged to run the risks that we are running, because we are affected direct of the contamination", warned in reference to the river basin of the Brook, in which her family lives. The leader also proposed to summon to environmentalist commissions of other parts of the country.

To the measurement also assemblies will add themselves - the one of San Telmo she is one of the impellers of the initiative in addition to diverse parties of left, like the mst. The leader of that party, Vilma Ripoll, clarified that "as in previous opportunities" he accompanies the protests in Buenos Aires. However, the leader of Polo Obrero (PO), Néstor Pitrola, warned that he will not participate in the blockade, in case that it happens. He maintained that, although he supports "integrally" the reclamation against the wastebaskets, the neighbors lack a "majority plan in common".

Speaking of Spanish I wonder how lenny is doing? I have not seen him around for a long time.
