"You promised," softly she reminded me—

Post by joel » December 4th, 2006, 12:06 pm

“You promised,” softly she reminded me—
and true I had, but I was drunk and pissed
and when I said I’d tell her later, it
was simply an attempt to swift deny
the sure mistake of love professions that
debauchery can momentarily
make seem appropriate, which rarely are.
But she remembered; damn that filthy bar—
and damn fidelity, integrity
and anything I hold for sacred that
implores me now to follow through and try
to tell her how I think I love her. Shit.
“You promised to explain,” I reminisced—
“How unapologetic can you be?”
