people who fail to believe in him like you, e-dog, will be his downfall. Why people are so certain he can't get this spot until 2012 is beyond me. The man is ready for it now. He was born ready. Lack of time in the public office does not take away from the obvious talent and finese he has in politics. His policies are sound and he's doing a lot for the community. Never has a senator in Illinois made more effort to keep in touch with the people like he has. St, his mom, Ann Durham is a white woman from Witchita who met Obama's father, Barack Hussein Obama senior in Hawaii. Not a lot else is known about Barack's mother b/c she is not running for public office. With that said, why bring her up? I don't think Barack is anything like JFK. Really, I don't. Different backgrounds, different personalities. And if he does end up surprising us, I think it will be plesantly. LEt's hope I don't find myself eating my words in the next few years. Clinton and Obama as running mates is a terrible idea. I think they clash policy-wise and that could spell disaster for the country. Plus... Obama's way cooler.

I bring it up cause we seem to have a very decadent democracy. You can't forget mom's apple pie. Is he sharp enough to stay on top of his handlers?

I don't know Izzy, you heard so much about bill clinton's mamma during the campaign. Barbara Bush was never running for office either.

I got could think of a lot of things that JFK and OHB have in common. Havard grads, but most of all for the ability to do live press conferences, to think on their feet, not this doofus we got now. To be all there, all here.

Not to put words in e-dog's mouth but why you woofin at him?

I bet he would vote for Obama in a heart beat if he could.
But I may have mis read him going to check again.

Do you remember Spiro T Agnew's "You people" speech.
You starting to sound like a republican to me when you start saying "people like you"

Chelsea Clinton for president in 2028.

He was raised as a christian.
Goes to church

I would vote for him
Would you?

I could see where his middle name could be an asset.

I am pretty stupid about politics. Last time I voted in a presidential primary it was for John Anderson in 1980. My feminist girl friend persuaded me he was the best choice. She was an ABC supporter. Anybody But Carter. So we got raygunz. I would have been happier with carter. Even if he did boycott the olympics which really pissed me off. But you I would have done anything to get laid, and I did love her in my own way.

She also told me the joke about why does a dog lick his balls? She was doing a masters degree in sociology at AU in DC. Most of her research was on polls. How to configure poll questions to get the answers you want. Reminds me of your poll about the troops in Iraq.

geez I thought you were mystified
good to know you have found your certitude again.
I think any one could get elected president if he/she has enough money and the moxie. In fact Bush is living proof you don't even need moxie. Just money.

Speaking of sure things
reminds me of an old Maverick episode. "My pappy told me, son if a man bets you a thousand dollars that he can make the jack of diamonds jump out of the deck and spit vinegar in your ear, son don't bet him cause you are going to get an ear full of vinegar.

A lot of time before November 2008, hell there may not be an election because of the declared state of emergency.
in times of declared emergency

Maybe anyone capable of getting himself elected president should not be allowed to run. (douglas adams)

sounds like a straw vote here. Whether he will win or not, "what canst thou say?" Would you vote for him?

Say Deb
I finally took the time to read your link about Hillary/Obama

Interesting comments to it, did you read them?

This one
What disturbs me about Obama's hurried statement is what has always disturbed me about Hillary, and I would hope that Obama doesn't go down that road. Hillary has always seemed to make up her opinions and pronouncements to further her own political agenda rather than to honestly and forthrightly reflect the needs and aspirations of Americans. She's overtly political down to her toes. By contract, Obama has seemed rooted, genuine, honest and sincere. Let's hope that he is indeed genuine, because if he isn't then Hillary will roll right over him.
I liked this one too.
My litmus test for presidential candidate: you can't be stupider than me. I knew Bush was lying when he sold this war. Any professional politician who was fooled by Bush cannot be trusted to figure out the hard stuff.

So I guess that leaves Obama and Kucinich. Guess I'll go with Obama cuz I don't believe a guy with a name like Kucinich can win.
And these two
Republicans would want America to believe that Hillary will win the primary but cannot win the election because they are afraid that Hillary will absolute win the election. As for Bill Clinton, I admire the man both as a human being as the president of this great country.

Please please please STOP giving Barak Obama SO much attention on every issue! You are playing into the hands of a Republican-dominated mainstream media which is trying to drive middle-of-the-road undecideds and rednecks away from the Democratic Party. The media is trying to cause a split in the Dem. Party by promoting an inexperienced, mixed-race guy with a name that sounds Muslim. Sounds too diabloical? We're talking about the Republicans here! Sad fact is the Democrats will need bunches of the ignorant, prejudiced masses to beat the crafy lying Republicans in '08.
Yes the crap is starting right here. All of a sudden his middle name is going to be an issue. It is going to be a long long long long hateful, tiresome, disturbing election season. It seems that to raise the hundreds of millions of dollars to run for president we must have a never ending campaign.

My hope is that Obama takes the high road. Howard Dean paved the way for him with his grass roots fund raising on the net.

I would vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination, I can't think of one republican I would vote for.

So, stilltruckin, why does a dog lick 'is ballz?

that's the question.

as for the other one:
I would vote for him
Would you?
voting is for sissies.

if democracy has to come down to voting, its just not worth its weight in salt shakers.

dictatorship of tha proletariat. thats all i'm sayin people. give the CP a chance. wheres vlad 'the impaler'/imagine-all-the-people lennon, when you need em?
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

barbara bush was a president's wife. Clinton's mother was talked about b/c he brought her up, but I couldn't tell you her name, or where she was from. Who gives a shit? When I said "people like you" i meant people with little faith. How dare you compare to me to a rebulican? It's such a dirty word. i don't know anything about edog besides what he/she? says so what else could I have meant with the "people like you" reference. Your comparisons to Obama and JFK are pretty vague. Plenty of politicans in general have those qualifications under their belt. Try again if you want me convinced. As for what you've said, e-dog what does his middle name have to do with his politics? If he got a seat in public office in the first place, then whose to say something as trivial as a middle name is going to stop him? Besides his father is African, not middle eastern. Here's hoping people have enough common sense to make that observation instead of damning us to 4 years with yet another second rate candidate in office. Maybe my poll should've been "would you vote for obama". Then I could've saved myself a lot of unnessecary typing. "voting is for sissies"... scarier words have never been spoken.

Yes, I'd vote for him; so would Cal. We like what he says and how he thinks. He's been what we've been waiting for ... this is from this mornings New York Times (online):
Shushing the Baby Boomers
By JOHN M. BRODER
Published: January 21, 2007
WASHINGTON

THE time has come, Senator Barack Obama says, for the baby boomers to get over themselves.

In taking the first steps toward a presidential candidacy last week, Mr. Obama, who was born in 1961 and considers himself a member of the post-boomer generation, said Americans hungered for “a different kind of politics,” one that moved beyond the tired ideological battles of the 1960s.

<>

BUT some say that after 14 years of personal and political self-indulgence in Washington and a grinding war, it’s time to say goodbye to the solipsistic generation.

“Thank you, here’s your gold watch, it’s time for the personal style and political framework of the 1960’s to get out of the way,” said Eric Liu, 38, a speechwriter and policy aide in the Clinton White House who now runs a mentoring program in Seattle.
I couldn't agree with him more! As an official "boomer" myself (born in 54) - I fully agree with what he's saying; I’ve lived and dealt with these selfish, solipsistic, self-centered, narcistic a-holes my whole life! And I am VERY READY from them to finally sit down and shut up and let someone else 'drive' for awhile.
Plenty of self-loathing boomers agree that their cohort ought to take a “Big Chill” pill and head for that vegan commune in Oregon they have dreamed of. “We baby boomers have been dreadful in the public arena,” the Time columnist Joe Klein wrote in a blog last week.
~ugh!~
See what I mean? As anyone with a BRAIN knows - self-loathing is simply the flip side that same solipsistic, selfish, narcistic self-love "IT’S ALWAYS ABOUT THEM" coin. So all Kleine is really saying is: don’t change, just ‘flip sides’ – like turning your dirty underwear inside out and wearing them again while saying you're all fresh and new: you know - like McCain.
...

Yes I would vote for Obama. I hope he makes it unto the ballot so that I can.

I am not ready to embrace the politics of sin cynicism and despair. It is going to be one hell of a mess that bush is going to leave us in 2009. One thing is sure, Obama, has the smarts, I just don't know if he can get the money without selling his soul.

I, like many of my generation, lived through the superannuation of the political categories which informed liberal thought and action in the 1930s.’ ‘Those of us who are temperamentally incapable of embracing the politics of sin, cynicism and despair’, he added, were ‘compelled to re-examine the classic assumptions about the nature of politics and about the political character of human nature.’

but he goes on about his father
just made me curious
call me a dead cat

I don't want to go on about Spriro T agnew
you know I hope this don't offend you
But I almost fell off my chair laughing
when you said "how dare you call me a republican"

I wonder how old bennie is doing
he once called jamelah princess cheese cake.

I would like to read his book, but so far I have not read anything by him, just about him.

Yeah I would vote for him
I don't want to bum you out but I heard some political pundit write that he would accept the vice presidency if hillary won. Anybody but a republican at this point.
