United for Peace and Justice estimated 500,000 people would show up, most sources agree at around 100,000 did show up, and some say less.
e_dog, since agression, violence, and war was kind of what the whole demonstration was addressing, it would kind of make sense that the crowd would tend to be passive. And being around a bunch of smelly people all day isn't too pleasant, so I for one am glad that they weren't that dirty.
However, this isn't all of my pictures. At one point a crowd of thirty rushed the Capitol Building. The half of roll of film I haven't developed yet has some shots of the police coming out in full force. I tried to get a shot of the cop shoving this guy around, but he stopped before I get it in focus. Quite possibly the saddest moment of the weekend. We didn't realize at the time that that group had rushed the Capitol, so it became somewhat confusing when the police shut all the roads down and blocked us in for a bit. And it was probably good we were passive cause I don't like tear gas a whole lot. (Though I was prepared for the ocassion.) From experience, its not fun.
