I minored in French along with my BA in English. However I'm finding that with alot of jobs around here they want you to speak fluent Spanish, and with more than a few good jobs it's required! For city jobs, gov jobs, etc.
Very frustrating.
Why is this?
Does GW have to speak Spanish? Maybe it should be a presidential requirement.....
Arrrgh!

no you can choose to speak only english and stay within the confines of your own community

except that if you want the full benefit of being a citizen of the soverign state of oregon wo-man,
whoah, man,
you should learn to speak the languages of that place 8)

i would vote for a woman who spoke only english
if she hailed from arkansas

Sounds odd to me Hester, seems like English should be good enough. But I suppose it depends on the job too. Good luck, I hope you find work soon.

Not sure how it is in Oregon but here in texas Spanish is practically the native language for many native Texans.

Heck, i'd be glad to take lessons. why can't they say "must be willing to learn spanish" instead of making it required for the job.
I know.

I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

where is Cantinflas when we need him?
cantar una canción
beber una bebida
in his ivory tower
halfway to heaven
reading for dough then busting out and
heading for mexico and mayby on down argentina's way to tierra del feugo
play your cards let the chips fall
merrily merrily merrily merrily
life is but a dream
gees i'm running outa material

it is true
i confess
only have a glimpse of Spanish
  :?: :o

i can't impress the latina poetess
i make a mess
nevertheless,
nunca el menos
confieso
yo lo hago mal
pero hacerlo mejor mal
entonces no tratar
i'll see ya at the bar for a sasparilla, brilla?
