Question of the Day - Fit vs Smart
Would you rather be physically fit and not too bright... or have physical challenges (obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc.) but be intelligent & mentally sharp?
And why?
And why?

It doesn't.
It is an arbitrary "what if." It is a philosophical scenerio. You can only choose one of the above, A or B.
2 situations are presented. You have to make a choice. Neither precludes the other, other than the fact that I wrote this question because I wanted to know what people would choose if they only had these 2 choices.
*shrug*

choice
I am a physical misfit and a mental outcast, and it seems as if we're still on the other discussion, which is causing me to be emotionally exhausted, & one certainly doesn't have a choice, so which is the correct answer?

well, let's see
I could be stupid and fat and unhealthy
no that doesn't sound good
I could be stupid and healthy
that sounds like trouble
I could be smart and fat and diabetic
no, I don't like that either
I could be smart and rich and strong and handsome
oh yeah, I'll take that one
problem is, we don't get to choose these things
we are usually born with or without them

eugene - you're probably just stuck on the other thread somehow given the fact that you consider yourself a misfit and and outcast. So, let's, for just a moment, think about the above 2 scenarios. It really doesn't matter if you're a misfit and/or an outcast when you delve into the possibilities of answers which you could give when examining the Question of the Day originally posted.
Which would you prefer? If you only had a choice of the two.... to be physically healthy and fit and not too bright or to be unhealthy physically with some debilitating problems with your body but intelligent, sharp, w/ mental accuity?
Certainly you can answer this, no matter whether you consider yourself a misfit and outcast or not and no matter whether you're stuck on the other thread.
Oh... and why do you choose the answer you choose?
This is the Question of the Day. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you.

Well, that's in REAL life. In REAL life we don't get to choose these things.Lightning Rod wrote: problem is, we don't get to choose these things

Or do we? Maybe we do. I choose to go swimming, to do my laps. I choose to go to the gym when I'm not too stupid to go.
Again, this is a philosophical choice. This isn't based on a real life scenerio. It's based on a question of "what if" you could choose between these two scenarios.
So, MR. Lightning Rod, what if? Which would you choose?
And why?
How many posts have I made asking the same question? I truly don't like to be dismissed, as most all who know me know. Who does? It's as if the answers you are giving me, Lightning Rod, are dismissing my original question. It's as if you are saying my question isn't valid. Why is that?
Please answer the original question..... or.... DON'T. ... but continuing to dismiss my question, playing word games to essentially call it an invalid or STUPID question, doesn't jive well with me, babe.
Despite the fact that I, given the above scenerio choices, would choose to be physically fit, healthy, yet a bit on the stupid side rather than in ill health, overweight with heart problems and smart as smart can be , truly does NOT mean that I am stupid..... no matter how physically fit I am.

Thank you.

Real Life, huh?
In real life we do get to choose things
we don't get to choose our genetics
we don't usually get to choose our social circumstance
we only get to choose how we develop the talents and abilities and the attributes that we have
the Bible tells us that everybody has their 'talents'
talent meant currency back then
but as the parable goes
the blessings went to the one that multiplies his talents
I don't care about being talented
everybody is talented
I want to be accomplished
that's what I want on my tombstone
as far as the question
like I said, it's a no-brainer
I would be Stephen Hawking
rather than Paris Hilton anytime

I'd go with physically fit and not too bright.
A ditsy, fit blond leaps to mind with great abandon.
Physical challenges can be a real downer...man...
What's that saying? You don't know what you got till it's gone. Too right.

OK Doreen. Rather than be faux see shus i will only comment to the actual, original question, which is that it is impossible for my mind to ponder deeply a very mono-faceted moot point. So, would one prefer to be Steven Hawkins or Paris Hilton? Hmmmm... Sorry, I just can't get any traction on that question.
