new arrivals....

Post by YABYUM » July 29th, 2007, 9:23 pm

We have welcomed Jack and Sally (from Nightmare before Christmas) into our home. They are 8 week old kittens. Jack is an off white color with black tiger stripes on his legs and tail. His sister is white, black, orange and grey. They have spent their first hour hiding underneath the downstairs couch. None of Deneses sweet coaxing has yet to work. I figure they'll get hungry sooner than later and have to come out. Any suggestions on helping them get aquainted to new surroundings? I suppose it's best to just let them shake off the jitters.
I love cats and am so glad to have them around......I'll post some photos when they decide to show themselves.....

aww. Kitties are so cute. Can't wait to see the pics. Best suggestion is to just let em come out on their own. They will eventually. When I first got my cat Buddie she camped out behind the couch for a good couple of hours before she smelled the fancy feast and decided she better get over the shy bug or miss out on some choice eats. After that, it was only a matter of getting her to pee in the litter box instead of in the corner, which she figured out pretty easily. Hope the new arrivals do great in their new home... but uhm, if they're brother and sister, then isn't it like, promoting incest to name them jack and sally?

well, my sweet coaxing has succeeded! along with some couch-lifting-and-quick-grabbing by yabyum. i've cuddled both of them well, we're pals, it's all good.

it was really hard in the beginning to just give them some space; all i wanted to do was carry them around and give them a tour of the place and make sure we bonded enough. motherly instinct?

i'm glad we brought 2 home, they're finding lots of comfort & inspiration in each other though i can already see that they're independent-minded enough.

i think everything will be fine, they just need some time and some united parents to encourage them to grow into their new home together.

promoting incest...no way. they're a pair, so they needed pair names, and the idea came to me while watching hot fuzz. don't know how, don't know why, it just came to me and it's perfect. i love nightmare before christmas with a big fat gross passion. and they totally look like jack & sally!

so far i've only been able to get more pictures of jack, as sally's been more camera-and-everything-in-general-shy. it is only day one so we'll be sure to even it out.

sally just chillin like hey ma what's up:

i mean, come on, how sweet is this:

more to come as they become more acclimated to our home! we're so glad we can share our new little family with everyone!
these shoes pinch my feet, but I love them.
