walking on stones placed by gentle hands from long ago, underneathe my feet a pathway to the pyramid, families and many children are excited to be walking , all of us towards a place of magnetic kinetic rays of potent juices, oozing from one place to here. I wore a dress that was simple and flowing, the humidity is thick, the breeze occassionally through the lush green trees is a comfort. I climbed up to the top and I sat down on the throne and felt like the godess of the pyramid.
shortly afterwards my 16 new friends started calling me that, friends do those things, like laughter and support and adventure the lake below and many vast miles of the most perfect green you have ever seen spead out like the most awe inspiring peace ever before my eyes. There is a sweat lodge which is made of rock, where the people sacraficed, or even willing sacraficing themselves to the Gods are purified, and there I stood. Me who couldnt get out of the house or the kitchen for whatever fear had left me there was fondling artifacts in Mexico.
I met Lola, the lesbian farmer and bullrider in a small town where she was talking to all of us about immigration and gender, and how she was told by her mother not to wear a dress that she looked horrible in one.
Her brothers, she said were "lazy asses", and would not work the family land, so it was left up to her. she grew corn and sorgum and when the NAFTA free trade deal went through she had big dreams of sharing resources with the United States, but that never did quite pan out. Once when she was mad she dumped a truckload of sorgum on the mayors steps at city hall.pissed him off i guess. The women I was traveling with had all kinds of questions for her, one of which was my professor. She asked"What is it like to be a lesbian in a small town?"
"Well there might be three of us and they all live at my house, and I do not make tortillas."
apparently making tortillas is a completly female task.
So after being in this small town, we all get in the van and move on to the next adventure.
One of those adventures was meeting Lettie the healer who won 2nd place in the holland herbal medicine contest? this information was translated from spanish to english, so maybe it is not perfect. Lettie had built a healing center and had a sweat lodge made out of lava rock. If you are ill and she is treating you, you go in there on your knees, close to the mother earth, and the hot rocks are placed in the back, it is the navel. the lodge is the womb. I was able to find out that she feels that people must heal thier emotional body first, or the body will become ill.If you get a nawhat massage from Lettie and then go in the lodge, you lay underneathe the herbs.
I told her about the inipi cereminies here in north america, and she said, "oh that is the men s warrior lodges"
that was not really a surprise to me as I have had quite a few males tell me to just ignore my feelings and forward we go, and I knew form painting that that was not true, that when I paint I free my energy up and can move forward, it is very healing and releases residue.
So I got validation from Lettie the Nawhat medicine woman
The mexican coffee house was pretty interesting, alot like the star wars bar in a way
