The fields fill with soldiers' bones;
then bards begin to scribble poems.

Rim
Baud.

Read Un Saison d'Enfer . The world has, as Artie R. realized, always been like some aging courtesan. Fucked up, cheap, broke, ripe. And yet there remain naive buffoons who still write poems in iambic pentameter, with lots of first person confessions about their latest wank festival. So it goeth.

when I was in prison
I mentioned Rimbaud

they all said
"oh yeah, Sylvester Stallone played him, right?"
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

...."like some aging courtesan. Fucked up, cheap, broke, ripe. And yet there remain naive buffoons who still write poems in iambic pentameter, with lots of first person...."

Is there an alternative?

... yeah, it's pretty goddamned grim out there, for quite awhile now, going on... oh I dunno... centuries... Ahh... that's entertainment; the latest wank festival

Buckshots.

The empty poet.
stands self dejected,
narcissism overdose,
headily injected,
forget about the crossroads,
think in terms trifected,
it's just as you suspected,
the crumbling of the erected.

(Spreckin de doitch?)

The authentic scribbler--
eschewing the Tonies,
plays the ponies.

(Poet I am not--prose slinger jazzin' around when taking time away from arbeiten). Real poesy really hard to do (you do tho')----))))

no matter how many thorny roses
the wannabe Sheats or Kelley
puts in his verse
it usually gets worse

(((We were mostly duped by those Latin-quoting old schoolmarms (and schoolmen) who taught us English. And by Beats or bards. Pound, Ezra (he had some issues) sort of tells the tale: which is to say, he don't recommend belle-lettres as a career. Poesia may be swell if one issued from westsiders, or aristocrats, or at least has par-tay membership with the Reds. Otherwise, trifecta -------- or 7card, babes))))))
