ave maria

Maria was a retard in the days
before the Nazis of political
correctness slaughtered all her special kind
of this-is-life-as-well perspective— she
was slower than the worldly rate of change,
her spirit took delight in simpler things—
so maybe forces took advantage of
Maria: got her pregnant, called it love—
But damn me if I don’t feel pretty,” sings
her little girly song and rubs the strange
new globe within her womb— “And think of me
as lucky that a special love would find
me
.” Maybe it’s a trust heretical,
retarded— still, what faith her trust displays.
"Every genuinely religious person is a heretic, and therefore a revolutionary" -- GBShaw

but someone's gotta win

Jose was gone all the time, you see
building Herod's cabinets
Maria was lonely so she had to take up with god
and things got out of hand, I think it was love.
The Angel denied it, called it immaculate.
We all know what happened next
The Three Stooges and the Shepherd Gang
on the red carpet under the Star
Maria was a good mother
shoulda been stoned
for fooling around with god
her son paid the price.
