Hi, Judih! Yes... that SooZen!! What a gal, I tell you. She was mega-help on all fronts. And this thread she began, terrific. I'd be one depressed fellow if it weren't for her during this whole ordeal.

mnaz, amigo! all is A-OK on the Phar Lepht side so far. Much to overcome, many new changes need to churn away, and regrets about the past must be dissolved. All in all : I'd rate the future a 10.

mousey-one, my friend! thank you. good to be back in the stream, although it may be another week or so to do another one

arcadia! hola, amiga. rolling with the flow as best as I can, and liking the new directional ride! :)

doreen, ex-smoking buddy! 10 days today and counting. (2) chews of nicorette last Sunday and Monday, but cold turkey otherwise. occasional passing desire that must be stopped. like an alcoholic, i cannot ever smoke tobacco again or else ... I've quit before for five years but could not say no to a cigar. bip! i was shortly hooked again. this time the warnings are too loud and too dire. i truly hope you can stop the habit.

i'll keep you posted on the changes within.

all of you - thank you for your words, truly!

Good to see you back, Cecil!!!!.....Reading you loud and clear about the need for healthier lifestyling as we get along in the teeth.....Im comin' up on 8 months no cigs....as for exercise I do ten miles a day on my bike on work days and 20 miles a day on non work days (pacific northwest weather permitting, of course)..I know I've prolly felt better somewhere back in my sordid 57 plus years of living, but this is the best I've felt in modern times....hyuck hyuck hyuck.....
Now, you take it easy now on the road back to wellness...slow and steady wins the race-progress not perfection!!!

If you need anything just holler...anything within reason of course., cds, dvds, that kind'a stuff....

ditto...

I am glad you're doing better--if I'm late in hearing what's been going on, I'm relieved to get the end of the story first! So I'll light some candles in celebration/thanksgiving. Heal well!

During this period of convalescence and re-do, I find my health doing well - daily walks, dietary precautions and no more smoking seems to benefit the old body. My visit with the doctors Friday was positive - they were pleased with my progress and even somewhat surprised that I had cold-turkeyed from the cigarettes. I was pleasantly surprised that they approved a couple of beers or glasses of wine with my meals, even daily... something about 'quality of life' ! I like that. :-)

Even tho it's been over 2 weeks since stopping the smokes, sitting at this keyboard finds me fighting the habit of getting up from my chair, going into the next room and either rolling a cigarette or re-lighting a half-smoked butt. This had been a routine of mine for years and one that had become a part of me - a mental tattoo of sorts. Fortunately, the desire passes more quickly with each day and I will conquer the habit. (for those that have any knowledge of astrology's 'Mercury retrograde', this occurred one day after my hospital release and signifies a time for "re-ing", i.e. re-establishing, re-doing, re-leasing, ... any thing to re-peat for assurances sake).

Again, all of you that have replied, I do appreciate your kind words and want you all to know that it does help immensely to read those replies and draw the positive energy from them. Thank you kindly! Let's carry on!!

Cecil
