Tonight I would like to express my good wishes (and maybe my condolences) to Rev. joel on the event of his ordination as a minister in the Lutheran faith.

Do the good work, joel.
Can I be the first member of your congregation? (even if I am a buddhist, quasi-pagan agnostic?)

so, your second day as priest!!! what have you been doing? (mmm...can I ask that to a priest??!!)

I prefer to still be part of your congregation of friends, if you don´t mind about it

I am glad for you Joel, and proud of you for achieving this.

Of course you know that when it comes to organized religion itself, I am not so keen on it, but your achievement of this gives me hope that there is more openmindedness, and authentic representation of Jesus in churches than I thought.

well, thank you all--

and I am as happy to be a minister in this congregation of art as I am to be a student under the rabbis and teachers, shepherds and to-the-devine-pointers in this congregation of art--

and in the words of Mr. of Tarsus, I give thanks to my God always for you--

and to be welcomed as myself as a voice in a conversation where so many different people come together to support each other in simple ways, is that miraculous?

It seems miraculous.

i bet you say that to all your congregations

So, what's going on? You got the robes? You got the blessings? What's the next gig? Are you allowed to venture out and plant seeds in the wilds?

(this is not, i repeat, not facetious- i wanna know if you're planning on being a travelling minister)

Yeah, I got my robes and my stoles and my cincture ropes...no tonsure, but I'm kinda going that route naturally anyhow....

I've got a little travelling to do: namely this move to Connecticut tomorrow. My traditions doesn't have too many itinerant (sp?) preachers, so I'll be serving within a congregation in central CT. However, as for planting seeds...I still hope so. A grand ol' missionary tradition we do have--the challenge now being to share our stories of faith rather than insist on and demand their unquestioned dogmatic adoption by everyone we meet (not an easy legacy to inherit).

Oh and trust me Judih...there are congregations with whom it is not always a pleasure to explore the faith....
