you eat the carot
you broke the styx
you won the rat race
n killed the rats

i finishinged school
i terminalled web
i runnings around
dat data date

you wet the wonders
you sold the plate
you perfected
perfection

i confided
in the confidence man
he was a lecture
i learned-ed

you the winner
you the man
you the you
of your known

i bought it all
consumed confused
i rented the rents
for rest

ripping into the night
like a phantom machine
her terrible toothache
receives the wisdom.
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

This will echo in my mind for awhile.
A stunning read, gutwrenching style....

Re: e-pup

Smashingly done, in your usual sparkling, irreverent style. We offer a humble bravissimo, and eagerly await your next effort in vers libre.

you and i

i remembered when i was down and out in st louis
winter of 76-77

i made friends with another vietnam vet
a solitary gay dude
he had been drafted and was a combat medic
somehow got a degree
then was working in the social services department
state of misery
he told me his kid brother was the perfect kid
well adjusted
married with family
good income
loved by his parents

the nam vet was a loner
last time i saw him
i had gone to his place to talk to him
i knocked
he was sitting alone in a large empty room at a table
open with a screen door
he just sat there
so after a moment i left

so many people have to hurt

glad we survived and healed

maybe he is on a farm somewhere
what he wanted to do

yo ho ho an a bottle of rum om[/color]
