Rodeo Logic

Post by Lightning Rod » November 24th, 2007, 10:32 pm

It's a rodeo
complete with bucking bronks
and bull-headed suspicions

only the clowns make sense
in this rodeo, this rodeo of life
I'm only on the calf-rope

there is no awakening like the hard ground
when the Brahma has ejected you
and your only hope is to bounce

The clowns are your only salvation
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

great!!

I was in something like a rodeo plus other destrezas criollas demonstration several years ago in San Antonio de Areco for the tradition day. First time I felt wired for not been riding a horse (most of the people there were part of tropillas from different provinces and there on horses, not walking...) it was difficult to decide if look up or down... you know.

thank you guys for reading
and thank you more for understaning

-----

[From "A Little Night Music"]

Isn't it rich, are we a pair
Me here at last on the ground
You in mid-air
Send in the clowns
Isn't it bliss, don't you approve
One who keeps tearing around
One who can't move
Where are the clowns
Send in the clowns
Just when I'd stopped opening doors
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
Sure of my lines
No one is there
Don't you love a farce,
My fault I fear,
I thought that you'd want what I want
Sorry my dear!
But where are the clowns
There ought to be clowns
Quick send in the clowns
What a surprise,
Who could foresee?
I'd come to feel about you
What you felt about me?
Why only now when I see
That you've drifted away?
What a surprise...
What a cliche...
Isn't it rich, isn't it queer
Losing my timing this late in my career
And where are the clowns
Quick send in the clowns
Don't bother, they're here
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

The poem hit me hard Clay
Reminded me of yabyum's old tag line
"I know it f*cking hurts"

I don't know what the resto of it is about
you know me with my autistic mind and no metaphors
just made me think about how many times I have hit the ground hard

probably not your favorite kind of music but for some reason this song came to mind

after Oedipus put out his own eyes, he cried out to the gods, lamenting that he couldn't stop his ears.

if he had been forced to listen to Barabara Streisand, he'd have found a way, surely.
