both ways

1

up & over the bridge
rhythms of tracks
& ties & progress
& girders
felt from the kerthunk
from below

goes along with the light
of what the sun cuts
through from above.

the whole bridge
can be felt from within.

from topmost flashing lights
to pilings sunk in bedrock
below riverrun.

2

back over the other way
ascent from dark subterranea
up an inclin
baby inna stroller cries
brother taunts
a pacifier
people stand & sit
glad to be done
with their days
hard at their knuckles

tired hands find respite
in a look out the window
city skyline sunset silhouette
lit by evening colors
godless & songless, western man dances with the stuffed gorilla through all the blind alleys of a dead-end world.

Took a walk.

Almost missed this one but yes, I felt the whole bridge, from head to toe, twinkling light to bedrock, all those shifting coordinates. Sometimes it vibrates a certain way like immensity, and then back. I used to try and put off the return for as long as possible. Nice.
