Thanks so much for posting these. I was not familiar with Tim Buckley's music.

Damn! I can't believe I missed these, Dor'...

"Once I was", btw, is no longer available. Humph...

Tim Buckley is probably one of my top five favorite musicians. I first heard him (rather his first album) in the summer of 1967, Berkeley, CA. Evry album I had by him was the best. "Happy Sad" had so many great songs that I damn near wore that one out... good thing CD's came out. "Star Sailor" was another... so creative for it's time (and probably still).

A very good friend of mine, this was several years ago, had never heard of Buckley. I brought over "Happy Sad" and he put it on. We had a drink or two prior to this and some smoke. The music came on and I, being a big fan, was pretty hyped over hearing this album on his very cool audio system. A few songs into it and I was telling him about Tim's untimely death.. the heroin overdose. My friend's attitude changed abruptly from enjoyment to an actual nastiness of sorts.

He dramatically got up and went to the turntable and took Tim off the platter. "Take this home with you! I never want to hear this or any other of his albums ever again!" He was extremely annoyed. He went on to tell me how much he hated heroin and anyone that uses the shit. He wanted nothing to do with them or it. He was adamant!

"Sure, Bob. Calm down. It's okay." I assured him.

We're still friends.

His son Jeff Buckley was up there with him. I think he passed on about the same age too.
