here's how helpless i am... can anybody help?

Post by Doreen Peri » January 8th, 2008, 8:11 pm

I got an older TV from my Mom's house. I hooked the cable into the back of it but I only get 4 stations so that's not working.

I have this old cable box from before when i had another older tv. But I can't figure out how to hook up the cable box to the tv.

Any advice for this helpless lady?

lol

the box should have two coaxial cable jacks in the back..one should say "in" and into that one you screw the cable that comes out of the wall. the other coax jack should say "out" and you run a short piece of cable from that one to the coaxial cable jack on the back of the tv set. If that doesnt work it might be the cable box isnt any good.

OK. Thank you, Scoot! I think I get it now. I've got the one from the wall hooked into the box but I need to go to Radio Shack or something to buy another one to go from the box to the TV. (I have drawers full of unused and probably unusable cables for my darn computer, but can't find one coaxial cable in this house... what a mess ... sigh). You've been very helpful. I'll report back if and when I get it working. ;)

Believe me, mnaz.... i need help. Bigtime. I guess I'm not totally "helpless" if I'm smart enough to find resources for help and to ask for it and to also pay for it. But when nobody's helping, then I'm without help... which is helpless. Right? Right.

Never thought of it quite that way.

I guess we're all a bit helpless....

Yep probably. I agree.
Tell you what? You help me and I'll help you, OK?

What do you need?
