DemocracyNow.OrgA recent U.S. military study shows Iraqis of all sectarian and ethnic groups roundly see the U.S. invasion and occupation as the root cause of Iraq’s sectarian conflict. One U.S. military analyst said the result is encouraging because it shows Iraqis hold some “shared beliefs.”

Now, this is one way to ;look on the bright side! This guy has just the right sort of optimism to make him a great leader -- Promotion?
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.
It is possibull
the neo-cons may make their agenda happen
somewhat
only i can't see privatization of the oil
because they would need security
and hopefully blackwater will eventually be out\
yet they made their money too
the shihite parliament may take effect
the militias may join for peace
the sunnis are turned against the extremists
this may come to pass
and a new relative peace may pprevail which will
possibly be superior to
what was there before
this should come to pass
afterall the violence and unwarranted lies
one always hopes for peace
fortunately the neo-cons will not be able to control
what happens inside iraq
they will try
bargaining continuing troop presence
for outside profits in the oil fields
that is one thing i hope for failure with
no blood for oil
the blood of so many unknown iraqis
plus 3900 americans now
we could have had all this without a war
without this explosion of violence
and still there are no guarantees

I saw a local news story last eve. Young fellow back from Iraq, lives in a town out in the country north of Tampa Bay. They have strung out yellow ribbons along the fencees at roadside. The kid says that these ribbons are for all the vets who come home from over there, seems pensive enough, wants to be a cop, good kid. His dad says that these yellow ribbons are to remind us that these soldiers are fighting for America's freedom.

Pentagon investigators concluded in 2005 that another one of the men—Mohammed al-Qahtani–had been subjected to abusive treatment at Guantánamo, including sleep deprivation, being forced to wear a bra and being led around on a leash.

Yes there is no doubt that the US is responsible for the sectarian violence. Not to be simplistic but the insurgency goes back to one man one act by Paul Bremmer the control freak. (heck of a job Paul, here is a medal) In first weeks after mission accomplished General Garner told Bremmer that if he went ahead with his de-bathification program he would put 50,000 armed insurgents on the streets over night. Bremmer went ahead and did it and that is what happened. 50,000 armed insurgents on the streets over night. Now six years later they re-bathifying.
I thought I read something last week that Hillary had a plan to get the troops out in 90 days.
I been thinking as Hillary as a Neo Con, the practioner of the Platonic Noble Lie. Not that I know anything about Plato except he was that stupid dog in the Walt Disney cartoons.
I suppose I sound like a misogynist because I called Hillary a dumb blonde, I know she is not dumb. But if she is not dumb, then she is a neo-con in disguise. She believes in the “Noble Lie”
“If she knew then what she knows now, she would have voted against the war.”
That is her story and she is sticking to it. And it is too late now to tell the truth. She has to tough it out with the “noble lie"
Interesting column by Maureen Dowd today in the NY Times.

Her vote was about her political viability, she did not want to appear soft on crime. No wait soft on crime was Dukakis's problem, Hillary did not want to appear soft on war.
I am stoked that Texas will matter this election, I still do not know for sure which of the two I will vote for yet. Leaning towards the black Irishman but that could change.
Yeah an election year is a great time to have a 9/11 trial. Lets keep that up front and center. Lets wave the bloody shirt.
That should help the american public remember that we are fighting there so we don't have to fight them here.

WASHINGTON
We’re not just in the most vertiginous election of our lives. We’re in another national seminar on gender and race that is teaching us about who we are as we figure out what we want America to be.
It’s not yet clear which prejudice will infect the presidential contest more — misogyny or racism.
As a possible first Madame President, Hillary is a flawed science experiment because you can’t take Bill out of the equation. Her story is wrapped up in her marriage, and her marriage is wrapped up in a series of unappetizing compromises, arrangements and dependencies.
Instead of carving out a separate identity for herself, she has become more entwined with Bill. She is running bolstered by his record and his muscle. She touts her experience as first lady, even though her judgment during those years on issue after issue was poor. She says she’s learned from her mistakes, but that’s not a compelling pitch.
As a senator, she was not a leading voice on important issues, and her Iraq vote was about her political viability.
Her vote was about her political viability, she did not want to appear soft on crime. No wait soft on crime was Dukakis's problem, Hillary did not want to appear soft on war.
