One of Those Days

Post by Lightning Rod » March 18th, 2008, 8:44 pm

I've had a terrible day.
It started out with the local Morning Show.
I was treated to the spectacle of John Tesh trying to play hip-hop music.
I'm not kidding. It's an idea that strangles the imagination.
(take it from me...white guys can't hip-hop)

Then I missed the Final Jeopardy answer. This is usually an ill portent of what the day will be.

I didn't feel good to start with, It is a rainy, dreary day here. I imagined I was having a heart attack. My limbs are heavy. I'm a failure at everything I do, etc, etc.

It hasn't been a good day.

i hear you, brother.
With a wedding and baby on my horizon, I have days of fear, days of contentment, and without a doubt I am aware of my mortality.

This web sight has my past saved in text. I somedays go back and read my posts from all over the US and Canada. Here I am.

Tomorrow I will have a child and a wife.

a memory of many waves tucked aware inside me.<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6ymTjj0agcs&hl ... ram><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6ymTjj0agcs&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

thank you thank you thank you
very much for that video yabyum.

I was thinking about you when that video was running, did you have any pain in your chest Clay?

The weather here was threatening all day, but the big blow that was suppose to hit never did. I think it was coming from the north.
I'm a failure at everything I do, etc, etc.

I been riding the ego trip too

LR - Focus in on Final Jeopardy and forget about John Tesh!!!! It's the importance of life that matters!!!!

YY - Ride the waves and stay on your board!!!! It will all work out in the end!!!!

today will be a better day.
it is the last day of winter.

i remain in mourning for springs
and summers past but this, too, shall pass –
the crocuses bear witness.

perhaps by summer,
my meter will return,
and with it, days long enough
to make darkness seem less apparent,
less black.

easter is sunday.
i push the soil from the grave.
i will emerge, no matter the difficulty.
i am the resurrection.
there is life after death.
witness the jonquil
and the breath
in my chest.

what can i say?
it has not been a good day.
but this is why tomorrow comes soon.
we cannot arise if we focus on
yesterday's moon.

....

(feel better , ok?)

Ok Dave,
I was concentrating on the Final Jeopardy question today, like you suggested.
But now I have a whole legal problem. I'm gonna have to file an appeal.

Here was the answer:

Category: Beatles Tunes

"The only #1 Beatles tune where the title was an actual place?"

My answer was 'what is Strawberry Fields?' The response that they wanted was Penny Lane. They were both real places, but Penny Lane was #1 and Strawberry Fields only made it to #8 they said.

My appeal is based on the fact that Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields were on opposite sides of the same disc. (this was back in the day when they sold 45 rpm vinyl records.) How do they know which one was #1?

I rest my case.

Yab, I can always count on you to cheer me up.

Truck, I think it was just gas. Don't call the ambulance yet.

Thank you for the poem, doreen. I feel better already.

I would not call no ambulance
I would lay there and say bring it on
until it was too late.
then I would be safe in heaven dead with st kerouac

Well then, you didn't get the answer wrong.

They should have accepted both answers.

See? It wasn't such a bad day after all.

I was going to edit my reply above
say glad you are feeling better.

Geez at my age a bad day is still a good day
but I suppose I missed the deeper meaning of your post maybe

reminds me of an old waylon song
Sometimes it's heaven,sometimes it's hell
Sometimes i don't even know
Sometimes i take it as far as i can
Sometimes i don't even go

Chorus:
My front tracks are headed for a cold water well
My back tracks are covered in snow
Sometimes it's heaven,sometimes it's hell
Sometimes i don't even know

Heaven ain't walking a street paved with gold
Hell ain't a mountain of fire
Heaven is laying in my sweet baby's arms
Hell is when my baby's not there

Chorus bis:(a tone higher)
My front tracks are headed for a cold water well
My back tracks are covered in snow
Sometimes it's heaven,sometimes it's hell
Sometimes i don't even know

Sometimes it's heaven,sometimes it's hell
Sometimes i don't even know

Is it better not to get the answer wrong or to get it right?
Interesting phrasing. It's a better day today. And I guess that all we can ask, that today is just a little better than yesterday.

"right or wrong, i'll steal your song, so sue me"

or is it "you'll steal my song"?

depends on who's singing it ...
both are right answers

oh and that's why we have bad days, btw... so we can have better days... if all the days were better days, we wouldn't be able to appreciate how good they are

(or something... tired philosophy but hell, i didn't make it up, i stole it... so sue me. ;))

some people think you cause your own bad days for this purpose... to have something bad to compare the good ones with.

whatever.

That's what the internet is for. Feeling sorry for yourself. LOL! :P

i do it all the time.
