Bogart & Bacall

Post by mtmynd » April 1st, 2008, 6:20 pm

Bogart n Bacall

- red
- warm
- moist
sounds dripping
like candle wax
from the speakers

rolling tears
- of joy
- of beauty
- of passion
soul baring
voice mimicking
loneliness while
music accompanies
heartbeats in rhyme

dance close
dance closer
dance as one
- embracing
- holding each
- valuable treasure
- serendipitously found

melding into the sound
taking off to places
- maybe tangiers
- maybe paris
- maybe kyoto
- or even maui

don’t drink the water
have some more wine
- i'll be bogart
- you be bacall
- sam will play it
- one more time

cec,
you know how to whistle, don't you?

here's the real story on bogey's wives:

Bacall was an elegant creature
but Mayo Methot was a hell-cat
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

you could see in their work together that there were intense undercurrents of emotion between them. very nice read - two of my favorites in one solid poem.
