Grandson's Togue

Post by GinnyKay » April 16th, 2008, 9:40 am

Grandma, what's a toque?
A toque
is a small round, woman's hat
without a brim,
similar to a turban.
Grandma,
can I wear a toque?
(Silence)
No, honey,
like I said,
a toque is a woman's hat,
or
possibly
a Chef's hat.
Grandma,
girls and women
wear
baseball caps,
why can't I have a toque?
(silence)
Honey,
ask
your mother when
she comes for you.
Ok,
but I think
I should
be able to wear one.
Grandma,
do you have a toque?
No, honey, I don't.
Oh, ok, I'll ask mom.

Grandma,
would
Grandpa
wear a toque?
No honey,
I don't think so.
Oh, ok,
I'll
just
ask
mom
when she
comes for me.

After
a week
of quality
time,
my grandson
(and new, puppy),
the sight
of
the headlights
are
welcomed!!

Mom, Mom,
can I have
a toque?
Why
on earth
would you
want to
wear
a
woman's hat?
(Silence)
Cuz'
I thought
it would be
so cool!
Get
your things
together,
we'll
speak of it
on
the trip home.
Oh, ok Mom."
Grandma says
maybe
you'll
let me.
(Sigh)
Son,
we'll
talk about
this
later.
Oh, ok.

Clothes,
puppy,
all
belongings
gathered,
goodbyes
said.
Beautiful
twilight
is seen
as
grandson (and puppy)
depart.
Tail-lights
s l o w l y
disappear...

Aah,
blessed
quiet.
(Until
summer
break!)

Bet
he gets
a "toque!"
Poor Mom.
