Lilith
Lilith
A congress of Apologists utter
heraldic visions
Atonal harmonies
of religious
vagaries
Heresy! Yahweh's umbilicus
is
dangling
[An unseemly sight]
How women willfully drown
themselves
in the sea
to escape the Midwives
merciless
murder
To escape Eve's stretch marks
and a Genesis ex libris
tattooed
with heavenly flourish
Across Lilith's
gorgeous
white
ass
heraldic visions
Atonal harmonies
of religious
vagaries
Heresy! Yahweh's umbilicus
is
dangling
[An unseemly sight]
How women willfully drown
themselves
in the sea
to escape the Midwives
merciless
murder
To escape Eve's stretch marks
and a Genesis ex libris
tattooed
with heavenly flourish
Across Lilith's
gorgeous
white
ass

enjoyed (and puzzled over) this
hi LRod
glad you enjoyed the poem as a whole. its original title was: "The UnUnified Whole"
that specific reference is to the persecution of midwives during the dark ages when orthodox medicine made inroads. at the time midwifery was "demonized" along with other pagan and natural or folk ways that worked to heal and stabilize society. in order to escape the terrible inquisition and torture that lay ahead for any woman targeted by the establishment, some women, according to historical accounts, said goodbye to their husbands and children and literally drowned themselves in the sea.
it is not a happy poem...
hope that helps?

there should be a way to use code to retain the formatting here but damn if i can find it.... sigh.... vbulletin has a button for it ... maybe it's the "code" button? I never knew what that was.
let's try
let's try
Code: Select all
let's type this line normally
then indent this line
then indent this line even more
then type this line normally again

Yahoo! It worked!
Try the "code" button on top of your posting window. Type your poem into a text file or a Word file to create your formatting. Then hit the "code" button 2x to create an opening and closing "code" tag. Then copy your poem from the text or Word file and paste it in between the "code" tags. Voila!
heh... always wondered what that was for. Just guessed.
.... oh and enjoyed your poem!
I wrote a conversation poem between Lilith and Eve once.... hmmm.. wonder what I did with that thing.

thanks westcoast & Isaías!!!!!!!
I was googling Lilith and I realized I didn´t know too much about it. Amazing bible addendas!!!!!!!!!!!
During the last weeks I´ve been re-visiting with my students creation myths -mayan, greek, incas, jíbaros, bliblic (the mayan one with 4 gods/aspects? that have mistakes is always the favourite!!! they also made comics about that one, they were really great!).
We were also reading some greek myths between them Calíope´s one.
