these are family matters,
if confession is needed -
confess to a priest.
do you expect advice that is unsullied,
uncompromised, from hearts that beat
to the tempo of their own desires?
whose blood is not sicilian -
whose eyes are blue not brown?
what color are your eyes?
what is your blood type?
don't tell me -
this is oratory not truth,
who could possibly know the truth?
i have traveled the path of the helix
i have seen comets collide and smash
the tragic recurring rendezvous of cause and effect
there, in the classroom of our desires.
i know this - how could they?
you seek the counsel of strangers
who know only half the equation, yet
glibly arrive at a solution!
you betray me with your confidences -
you sell me short, you want
love that is already given, love
that screams but cannot be heard
why, what must i demonstrate?
what is the thirteenth task to perform?
i could never defeat the hydra on my own;
if not then, why expect it now?
how can you love my strength and despise my weakness?
they are inseparable, like castor
and pollux they are inextricable
spurn one and the other falls
you know this, you have
always known this, you ask
too much without even asking
you ask too much, too late.
these are family matters, but
there is no family left to speak of.

'How can you love my strength and despise my weakness?'
Damn good question. Seems there will always be external forces prying on a family's internal structural integrity-- betrayal of confidence vs. seeking perspective from without-- an uneasy tension, and seen differently by those individuals involved, at times.
Thought-provoking throughout. Thanks Dino.
