on the street where you live

Post by constantine » April 25th, 2008, 1:28 pm

could not forget them
even if I wanted,
the intimate observations of childhood,
the profane and the sacrosanct, there
on the street where I lived.
an esoteric comedy - a slapstick farce
feelings amplified through time
congeal into tomorrow, into destiny
and then disassemble
to another's impression,
godchild of memory
Mnemosyne hears all and remembers!
doling out slivers and shards
that cut, the ravines
as it rains upon hills of clay
fissures like fingerprints
indelible, baked hard
by the fires of daylight, waiting
undecipherable, but
inexorable - like mother to child,
and I could not forget even if I wanted to,
the submerged subterranean vaults,
bubbles from the tar pit
flogging, as they motivate,
anxious, as they desire.
tyrant master of a thousand faces, there
on the street where you live.

I have no idea
why I found myself smiling
as I read this

maybe it was your craft.

i used to love to sing
thanks, clay
i'll let you record all my songs
what a memory
memories are like songs... they go out in the air
everybody listens... or they don't

maybe one day i'll sing again
who knows

:)

(apologies, dino... didn't mean to hijack your thread...)

....replies are supposed to be about your poem....
i have often walked down your street before
and the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before
all at once am i several stories high
knowing i'm on the street where you ... live!

i love that showtune and yanno what?

your poem is better and that makes it a classic! ;)

it's a crazy thing; the song from my fair lady was the inspiration, but the poem took another direction. i love that song - it was my favorite from a show that has many more familiar songs, but still, that song must have struck a chord with me. your vocal and treatments were wild.

no argument here. you are as wild as anyone has the right to be! perhaps more so. i am wild too in a mundane sort of way.

yeah, i'm cool like dat. the little asides in the song that you were using are what i mean by treatments. the bits of reply - the banter added a spontaneity to the performance. now that i've analyzed and taken the life out of my comment i feel much better!

hehe you make me smile :D
no, the life is still in it :P
i get it now.. thank you... i'm a little slow sometimes
darn internet!.... (i'm often slow in real life, too, tho, but i like to blame it on the internet. I blame a lot of things on the internet.. it's an easy mark)
i miss spontaneous banter like that... i was on a roll...
it was fun.... then came the abrupt stop... and

now i need some treatments

(don't ask me to analyze that)
