better than i thought...

i have made it six days without a single puff of cigarette. hooray me! i havent yet attempted a sip of coffee, but i did drink beer. i missed my smokes with my beer, but i did it. how about you? are you an ex-smoker? did you give it up and start again? could you not even care? talk to me....
lets generally discuss cigarette addiction.

i used to enjoy bumming a few cigs from my mate as we got pissed in metal and rock bars in glasgow. i got a lovely relaxed feeling. sort of like pot but more fleeting and without the paranoia.

then the smoking ban kicked in and... i just left it alone. i was never a proper smoker. i only ever bought fags when it was after 10 and i wanted more booze but wasn't allowed to buy any due to some stupid police state thing about buying alcohol after 10pm. apparently, if you buy it after 10 you are only going to drink it... ???!

so i'd buy a pack of fags and smoke a few of those with a cup of tea just to get an extra kick while i listened to MC5 into the dawn.

there's a woman on my train. i find it kind of endearing. she has back combed hair and listens to bowie constantly on her mp3 player. she is always first off the train. cigarette in hand. lighter in the other... i pity her addiction but admire her conviction.

is the smoke quitage anything to do with the fucked finger? and what about the coffee? i've never been a fan. i don't like the hard stuff.

Clay... remember John? my previous next door neighbor? He's had a major heart attack and bypass surgery.

2 packs of marlboro reds every day for 20+ years can effect a person like that.

I wish you'd try to stop. Or at least cut down.

......

Ronnie... applause to you! Good going! Keep it up! I was taking Chantix and it was really helping. But it's expensive. I am smoking outside and have cut my smoking down a lot. I used to smoke 1-1/2 packs a day. Now I smoke about 1/2 a pack a day and only about 2/3 of each cigarette. I just need to stop!!

YOU will be my inspiration. So, remember that my life is on the line, ok?

bennie....quitting had to do with getting married on may 24th and having a child born in august. the reason i cant do coffee is because it triggers the nicotine urge. although as day 7 draws to a close....its getting easier.
(for more on my being a father click the link in my signature)

clay....to each what they desire

doreen....check out this website, it helps me alot. cold turkey is the best way to go and this site explains why. also....whenever i feel the urge, i just read or watch the video testimony of 30 something old cancer patients who had a pack or two a day habit and are being recorded days before they die. this site has lots and lots of very insightful articles and links to really kick you in the ass. the first three days i thought i was going to freak the fuck outta my skin. the first realization that i was truly weak and under the control of a drug. after day four i started to lose the insomnia. the first night i did not sleep. i was honestly up for two days without sleep. my body was in shock. its getting easier. now what makes it easy to refuse a single puff is knowing that one puff and i will have to go through three nights of detox again. fuck that......you can do it. no help aids needed. its simple....JUST NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF.

check this site out....

thanks for the link, ronnie

i stopped smoking 2x ... during both pregnancies.... better for healthy children

why i started again, i have no clue other than the fact that i'm an idiot

keep up the good fight, my friend

you are my inspiration

cold turkey is the best? That's how i did it the other times... yes... but of course i was so sick on my stomach from the pregnancies, cigarettes tasted and smelled horrid ... that helped!

maybe i should get pregnant again
