Yeah, I will give it all some thought (in between getting ready for this show and a gallery opening tonight and an outta town trip  ) "Mom's just kidding Nate" is Nate's pat answer when I kid him.

I really would like to see some other input on this besides our enthusiastic selves. IMO, this could really turn into something unique and worthwhile for all that would or could participate or...it could just fizzle but we don't know unless we give it a go...and since I had the bright idea, I will give it my best (and that ain't bad! :D )

Thanks Dor and judih...

now come on folkies, where are you and will you want this thing to happen? I wanna see your stuff, you will love to see ours. Like my momma says, "he who does not tootith his own horn, does not get tootih" so lets hear your tooting and rooting!

empty mind Cecil...succinct and good ideas. thx. That way posts don't linger for long...would you co-moderate with me? I always appreciate your help. That way if one of us is busy, the other can check it out... Two for the price of one! Say yes, my friend, won't you?

I think its a great idea. Though this means I'll have to make things that people actually want, oh heavens.

I think that the original post, followed with e-mail transactions, followed with post of completed swap is fairly sound. I also think that a record of the swaps would be interesting, but I guess not necessary.

co-moderators! great idea!

Hey, if you two want to do this then you can set it up however you want... just get the feedback here you need, make your decisions, tell me when you're ready and I'll create the forum. Then you can make your announcement about how it will work and go for it!

This is exactly how envisioned Studio Eight working. A site for everybody to do what they find exciting and fun with the arts. It's your site.

Thanks much for wanting to do this. I'm excited about it!

boho...I have very eclectic tastes, as do others, I'm sure so whatever you offer will have a taker and if not, never, ever give up on your art! Try, try again my friend. As for the post of the completed swap, I wanna see what the folks swapped for, as I'm sure everybody does so the post will be left up, I think for a coupla days or so with the completed transaction...I think that may work.

mt...okay buddy, you chew on that (we are on different computers btw, he downstairs, me up) but don't choke on me. Hah!

Dor...you tell 'em honey! He's the best help I know. I will cogitate (sic) on it all, get as much feedback as possible, track this thread and see what is born. I am very 'cited too, as Nate (for those that are new or forgot or don't know, nate is our down's syndrome boy and a comedian) would say and I hope my enthusiasm carries over to all the artists here who are so amazing and who I would just love to have hanging around mi casa!

I think it's a cool idea.....trade is a wonderful pact between artists.....I also buy art, just recently a painting by steven orrence a young artist here in Frederick who i'm showing with @ the blue elephant in august....i feel the artists should set a value for the work and go e-mail with the interested party from there.....there is the problem of posting shots.....i find it a time consuming here (too much like work) or can it be made easier and this is most impotant less complicated, like tribes or myspace??????...

Mark...hope your head is still between your ears. I agree, an artist should have the ability to set a value on their works. Some things I post would have a minimal value and others I would want something really big time for what efforts it took for me to create.

I have no problem posting pics here because I use Photobucket also I have the convenience of being able to scan my work instead of photographing it. I just lay it on the scanner and voila! It works pretty well. If a piece is not too large, you may try that. (I put a pillowcase over the top of the scanner so that the light doesn't seep through the sides.)

Arcadia, thanks for the input and the confidence, we'll see if it is well placed. I am thinking, at this point, that we should limit the number of items a participant can post, that way everyone will have a chance to have their items 'seen' and not a whole page of one guy's stuff. Comprende? That way, your couple of items will be just fine and perhaps stimulate you to make more! :D

can I offer blue sky and stud services?

(please don't ban me doreen, I was only kidding)

I think this is a great idea

maybe we'll be the craig's list for art

for some reason I cringe when I think about framed versions of my poems

my eyes aren't good enough for jewelry anymore

so I'll have to trade my words and my wit

happy trading

Trade your CDs and books, Clay.

I'll take the blue skies if you have any. It's grey and rainy here...
