5. Fresh homemade banana bread & pecan puffs rolled in confectionary sugar.
4. Evergreen scents.
3. Watching their eyes when they open a gift I carefully chose or made.
2. Old friends, distant family coming together.

fruit cake...
you know... i think fruit cake is a myth. I've only ever seen the stuff on the shelf at the grocery store. No one in my family has ever given one or got one as a gift. We've never had it on the dinner table. I've never eaten a slice. never seen a package of it opened. I think it was created by stand-up comedians and talk radio hosts for material.
