Two Stanzas for Memorial Day 2008

Post by Lightning Rod » May 26th, 2008, 3:31 pm

We Don't fight wars for freedom
We Don't fight wars for democracy
We Don't fight wars to liberate
We Don't fight wars to save

We fight wars because we are stupid
Too stupid to talk
Too stupid to share
Too stupid to compromise
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Stupid, yes. Or pathologically vain.
Or consumed by greed. Or fear?
Or unwritten codes. Or economics.
Yes, all those things and more,
or less.

It's a sentimental reply.

Like "awwww, your heart is so big" ... or "awwww, I feel your sentiment with you"

Sorry you misread it.

Sorry I misunderstood as well
Perhaps it is because I have become so accustomed to your scorn

you can definitely make a case that above the greed, the hunger of power, the meanness in folks...that above it all and including those things, sits stupidity.....because one thing I know for sure, I.Q. don't
count for shit. ....doesn't necessarily make you more compassionate,
more savvy, or wise......there's an awful lot of stupid folks with big
brains their just wastin' their talents doin' dumb shit.....like eternal wars.....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

LR, your piece is a bit too inclusive using the word 'war'...

Like all thing there are two sides to every war -

The war on poverty, war on cancer, war on heart disease, war on TB, the war on intentional violence, war on hunger or starvation, the war on alcoholism... there are many battles, many wars we humans partake in in order to better our living conditions and those of others.

And it's a one two three
whut are we fightin for
greed, hate and fear for sure
fightin to not share anymore
and it's five six seven
shoot down that collective gate
it ain't no use to sit and wonder why
if you're poor then you gotta die.....

a do whacka do whacka do....
