A Moment Ago (for doreen peri)

Post by the mingo » May 28th, 2008, 8:15 am

A Moment Ago
(for doreen peri, i told you there was a poem in there,
& its not the only one)

thats when the lie was given
to most things...thats when the
anchor line was cut...
he said he was just a patsy
and he was but not for
some mysterious conspiracy
he was a patsy for all of us
who had built our sniper's nest
of cardboard and knelt by that
6th floor window and waited
with that rifle in
our hands

and why?

so we wouldn't have to
kiss the truth at night
& say "i love you"
when we didn't anymore
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

I haven't seen a poem with my name on it
since I can't remember when
As I said, everything is poetry
that comes out of your pen

I donno how you came up with this but I'm very glad you did! I love it!

Interesting images.... a glimpse of some truth i have yet to discover. Thank you!

It's interesting that you would dedicate a poem about an assassin to doreen.
?
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."
