an old song sung as morning breaks

Post by bennie2 » May 24th, 2008, 2:29 pm

softly under the flickering glow
in blue i say 'play me a song of old
sing me a song of old and make it crack with tears'

as the candle breaks in two around the midnight of us
and the notes tenderly stroke our skin
her breath swings pregnant in the moon glow
her breath hunts down stars
her breath melodic sings
and darkness escapes through morning's door

the song of her hangs from my damp eyelashes
and my fingers lie unempty in her hair
as a kiss melts on her neck
we fall amongst the carpet lost
and darkness escapes through morning's door

this piece, so frigging i.n.s.p.i.r.e.d.
and inspiring enough to read
more than just once to take in
the fullness of what you have
composed like a chef and sommelier :
a meal of delicious passion and love
to be relived on very special occasions.

"darkness escapes through morning's door"

love that line, Bennie, too.

thank you for the comments, LR, MT and westie.

I'm happy to have started writing again. I had gone on holiday (by mistake) from writing for a while and it's slowly coming back to me...

as for my voice, LR... I think it sounds bassy and monotonous but I'm sure I can record it and let you hear it. I've joined the modern race of people and bought an MP3 player. Not an iPod. I went for a Creative model. Creative Zen. it has a dictophone function. I'll see what happens. butterscotch left out in the sun i imagine.

for LR:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/R-oEeQ--sSw&hl ... ram><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/R-oEeQ--sSw&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I had to make a video because I couldn't upload the .wav that my mp3 player created.

PS the images I used in this video are visual things I made of poems I wrote years ago. unfortunately, you can't really make them out on the video.

what a wonderful voice you have, Bennie... like the butterscotch I had imagined, mixed with a little Uncle Scrooge. Thanks for sharing... you picked a great poem to do this. ;)

wow bennie!!!!!!!!!! :D

so sweet poem, so sweet voice!!!!!! beautiful!!!!!!!

(as a non english speaker the musical dimension of words in a poem read in english is not noticed by me most of the time, the words in this one sounds incredible, I also liked the ascending sound you put somehow to the ending of lines :) ) thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!

Stunning poem to beginning with...your vocalizing it is even better. Is there a word stronger than stunning? If so, then I'm saying it....
