GOD (sheesh)

Post by emel.scott » June 11th, 2008, 2:07 am

so what do you all think It is
some vast eternal being?
some big guy sitting on a throne
some goddess raising self esteem

some cosmic energy condensed
omniscient in its reach
all knowing, seeing, everything
and brought to earth to teach

some think that It's a great big brain
or something split in three
with lots of arms and colored skin
looks pretty cool to me

and then there are the ones who say
the sun is this all knowing being
that spins us on our own axis
and gives the bee its sting

some say that there are lots of gods
i guess that only heaven knows
i'm sure they must divide the chores
it makes sense that's the way it goes

of course there are the doubters
the atheists who disbelieve
the cynics and the scientists
who think there's something up the sleeve
i always pose this question
but they don't take the leap
"what keeps the saucers spinning
when you get your beauty sleep?"

what hangs the planets in the sky
what kills the infant child
what fuels imagination
and grows orchids in the wild

---------

well if you put me on the spot
and force me to recite this rhyme
consult the oracle of delphi
for the clues that solve the crime

rape me of my earthly senses
nil my future and my past
fertilize my cosmic ear
to hear the calling to the mass

----------

the voice says, "I'm custodial
for all that you can be.
Conveying basic power
is your responsibility.
You channel through what's rightly mine
as your awareness grows,
become the light of the sublime,
project what knowing knows."

and as i'm ready to dissolve
It cautions, "Don't get lost in me!
You are compelled to serve my will
through individuality".

----------

"just wait a second, i don't get it.
don't we find God, then we rest?"

It grabs me by my third eye saying,
"Surely you must jest?

There isn't any end to this!
and here's the only lesson:

All that I am is consciousness
and you are... self expression."

We should not mind if on our ear there fell. Some less of cunning, more of oracle...Thoreau

God is consciousness. Or underlies it somehow.
Consciousness is still working it out, it seems.

Nice one, emel.

it is said that the only valid subjects for poetry are love and death

but god is fun too

give that man an "amen!"
yes! unravel the weevils
that gnaw at the trough
of truth bubbling with life
that nobody has ever tasted
reveal those words beyond
words that sound of aum
