artist at work

Post by constantine » June 12th, 2008, 7:59 pm

here is the point where
i'm supposed to give you the grabber
but i'm not feeling inspired at the moment
at a loss for words as they say
perhaps, i am played out
shot my wad, overextended
my creative capabilities
you can only say so much
not that i have said "so much"
there is not that much to say
i could get political
that's always good in a pinch
sort of like community service
or i could confess
mi confessione
is that spanish or italian
they're really quite similar
what's that?
oh yeah, confession
good for the soul as they say
shall i speak of your wondrous eyes
if they ask me i could write a book
i like that song
sinatra was smooth in pal joey
he tried to put the moves on kim novack
when he was already in with rita hayworth
and fucking pulled it off!
sinatra was smooth
in a cheesy new york vegas kind of way
i remember being in new york when i was four
i remember a brickwall through a hotel room window
i remember a giant bottle of pepsi
tilting and pouring into a glass
bubbling and flickering
like a million lightbulbs on the fritz
ah sweet memories of life at last i found you
it's like a bus hijacked by juvenile delinquents
that stops wherever the hell it wants
i can't control it
jesus christ it controls me
you too
ah, we have stumbled onto common ground
what we have here
is a splendid opportunity to communicate
i sort of paraphrased a little
from that paul newman film
cool hand luke
actually
newman didn't direct it, i'm not sure
maybe arthur hill directed it
i'll google it later

like a maxwell house coffee commercial
i was drawn in 'til the last drop
which reminded me of my father
who passed in nineteen sixty five
but i still remember him sayin'
"what the hell's wrong with the last drop?"
but in this case there's nothing wrong
besides my dad wouldn't know what
the word 'google' meant anyway...

this is terrific dino.....a fascinating ride through the mind of the poet...
as he deals with the conflict of what to write about, how best to use his talents....the torment of why write ?....and you end this journey
with a vivid memory and the conclusion that the mind at best,
is a runaway train.......whooooo, whooooo!
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
