Natural Beauty

Post by mtmynd » May 27th, 2008, 4:43 pm

Natural Beauty

It's spring time in Phar Lepht and the flowers are doin' their thing -

This shot is a current favorite of mine (taken today) as this cactus has been with us for so many years I can't remember how far back our 'relationship' goes. This is the FIRST TIME! it has ever bloomed.

Image
This is a close up just to get into it... hmmm.. The color! Buddhist orange..?
Image

Soo planted some new sunflowers this year from some seeds we picked up at Wildflower Farms outside of Fredricksburg, Texas. This may be called 'Autumn Beauty'... another first bloom.
Image

This cactus is another surprise. It has bloomed before but not in several years. The flowers are intense. They are only 1 inch across. This was taken a few days ago and today there just might be a new batch.

Here's a wicked plant - the Datura Metaloides or commonly called either Jimsonweed or 'Devil's Weed.' Quite common in the southwest U.S., this plant has been in our garden for several years, dying back in the fall and after a severe pruning, the plant roars back enticing us with these intense white flowers that bloom in the very early, pre-dawn hours and remain until the sun gets about overhead.

More to come... nap time now.

Thx, wired... I'm glad these helped the emotions ease. Nature is a fine healer when given a chance.

Take care, righteously.
