Filtering Truth

Post by saw » June 15th, 2008, 9:03 am

When I noticed the wide-eyed stares,
the scrunched-up faces, it dawned on me...
people really don't want the truth
when they ask, "Hey, How's it going?"

You should never say that your asshole boss
has been harassing you for ten months
and you fantasize three or four times a day
about slicing off his balls and feeding them to the cat.

It's not OK to say that finding a really raunchy
interactive porno site where girls will do and say
anything you instruct them to, relaxes you
since your wife started fucking the young kid

down the block, your wife thinks
looks like Ashton Kutcher.
People surely don't want to know that your
sexual encounters with Father Murphy

have got you thinking about calling Oprah Winfrey,
or your teenage son still wets the bed in the room
he never leaves designing graphically violent video games.
Forget trying to explain that your daughter in Chicago

is a hardcore lesbian indie film producer
and the founding member of
The Dykes From Hell Motorcycle Club....
They just don't want to hear it.

So now when someone asks how I'm doing,
I give the only appropriate response,
"Fine,
how about you?"
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Yeah, people rarely tell the truth when asked "how are you"?

but the reason for that is pretty simple (and it took me many years to figure this out)

It's because nobody gives a shit

heh

I'm doing fine today, thank you

And I really dig yer poem (but that part's the truth) :)
