Neo-Poets Brave New World.....an ode to Studio 8

Post by saw » June 21st, 2008, 3:03 pm

the weaver laces his words
basket-like, in a symmetrical pattern
of expression so unique
when you spy the artistry on display
you recognize his or her signature strokes
like a Renoir, a Kandinsky, like
Hank Williams' Cheatin' Heart.

each voice is a gift
to a cerebral fund, to a planetary
endowment that continues to grow
each day, as cyber-fingers caress
the imagination,
massaging syllabic harmony
into eager waiting scalps.

fingers, fingers, fingers everywhere,
fingers from the west coast,
the rust belt, the bible belt,
the land down under, fingers
laced like woven tapestries of dreams,
spirits entwined like ancient seaweed
tumbling across the top of an ocean

of expressed life.

***** note:
there you go, I never write directly into cyberland,
i'm a big chief yellow-lined tablet man...guess I was inspired...
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

smile, saw
if you write an ode, does that mean that you are an oder? (sorry, I usually don't do puns.)

I think your piece captures the subject
and Studio 8 deserves an ode
it certainly has an oder
(doreen will protest and want to call it a fragrance)

This is a very unique community. I've been chastised for calling us misfits. But aren't all poets misfits? Somehow people from all over the world have managed to fit together into this tribe. It deserves an ode.

Onward
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Click click, too much click.
Personally, I don't know how to write poetry, and it shows!
I squiggle metaphors and images like jellyfish crustaceans.

I'm a late night beer stain google fiend.
I click click around to freshen my tank.
Hope there's enough left in it to outrage me.
Faint auburn stretches out like a politician's wet kiss,
like an empire's wrong turn off the highway.

Well, that's where I'm at so far.

Did I mention I'm not a poet?

Really, just someone breathing. And drinking something.

See, that proves it. No self-respecting poet would waste so much time on 'ing'.

What makes it interesting is the wide, jarring mix of styles-- almost "anti-poetry" at times. I've posted anything from spatial vignettes to waltzes to wigged out poli-rants, even posted snippets from news, wiki articles and other discussion boards in the text... And others here are even more innovative and rhythm-conscious (and skilled)....

Saw, I grow more impressed with your poetry with each read. Your poems invite one to delve deep and read over again.
