Previously titled "People Come and People Go"
People Will Go For Anything
People will go for anything
Fried ice-cream or a mojo ring
Fred don't dance and Frank don't sing
People will go for anything
Stick little pins into your ears
A pill to end all woes and fears
if it's dong ding dong or ding dong ding
People will go for anything
Whup the terror out the Taliban
Save all the women in Faghanistan
Drop the bombs; let freedom ring
People will go for anything.
You write a check when you buy the hog.
You make a prince when you kiss a frog
Got to leave with the one you bring
People will go for anything.
I got the jive; you got the jing
Put the Johnson Rod in the Johnson Ring
Dogs don't bite; bees don't sting
People will go for anything

Oh sorry... I liked the lyrics very much. (I assume since you're calling them lyrics that this is a song? Am I right?)
I just thought you made a mistake and I was trying to help. Maybe you meant to put the title of the lyrics in the title of the post, or maybe you meant to post another poem titled like the title of the post.
I wrote a poem called "People Come and People Go" once upon a time. If I remember correctly when I shared it with you, you didn't like it much because it rhymed.
I just looked for it so I could link to it but no such luck. The search engine on these forums really sucks bigtime. I wish the management would do something about that to make it better. What a stupid search engine.

Yes. Look up top. It says "Search."Lightning Rod wrote:Yes, it is a song. Probably a country song. Rhyming is so corny that it's better
reserved for songs. I think Voltaire said that. No, maybe it was Bob Dylan.
We have a search engine on this site?

OK I'll make mine a song. Good plan! Thanks. Gotta find it now.
Just out of curiosity's sake, is the title to this song, "People Will Go For Anything"?
Or is it "People Come and People Go?"

OK. After I put a melody to it .... and obviously it needs a bridge...
.... here it is. I found it.
people come and people go
people come and people go
through a door goodbye hello
shadows of some broken dreams
never was the way it seems
into lives, some enter still
through the gate atop the sill
people come and people go
in and out of lives in flow
books of lists of lanes and drives
fill address books of our lives
phones which do not ring again
passioned phrases of the pen
letters sealed and sent with scent
eves in the believing spent
sometimes we won't ever know
people come and people go
eras pass from birth to grave
nothing left for us to save
lovers leave within a mist
as if lips were never kissed
words are words sometimes they lie
stick a needle in my eye
nothing more to know you know
people come and people go
once upon a dream now stale
someone wrote a fairy tale
love can happen just for you
you will fit the small glass shoe
you're the only one you know
people come and people go
my love's true you're my plateau
people come and people go
trust me now, believe i'm real
i don't lie no love to steal
i give my whole heart to you
you're the only one it's true
would i lie? oh no i won't
now you see me now you don't
people disappear from view
nobody will lie to you
people come and people go
seasons turn and comes the snow
ice on hearts which did entwine
always yours but never mine
everbody tells the truth
see your disappearing youth
vanish in the ebb and flow
people come and people go
alone again in mirrors seen
face cries out where is doreen
gone again in solitaire
people lost within her stare
nothing left to know you know
people come and people go

Sorry, I truly don't know what I did for you to think I'm a dumb chick. Yeah, I think it's just my nature to speak my mind... especially when there was an obvious error in titling the post. The lyrics have one title. The post has another. They don't match. A simple honest observation.gypsyjoker wrote:

I thought it WAS tender and very kind of me to point it out.

I casn see why you asked
I did not understand clay's sarcasm
Or my perception of sarcasm
I was just trying to joke with him
I thought it was a good description of life in politics in the USA for the last hundred years or so.
It made me very lonely
Made me feel like it was 1915 over again.
sorry for the ramble clay
I thought a hockey game was going to break out at a fight.
sorry doreen
I am weird
I had an anxiety attack.

You can't see why I asked why the thread had a title called "People Come and People Go" while the poem was titled "People Will Go For Anything"?
geez
What's not to understand? I was trying to help a member of this website who titled his poem in error.
I don't get it.
My post pointing out that the titles didn't match had nothing to do with the poem, the person posting the poem, or the topic of the poem, or you, or your perception of the poem, or the poet's sarcasm, or your sarcasm, or life in politics in the USA, or any of that.
Absolutely nothing.
It was a friend helping a friend to fix what appeared to me as a posting error.
