Take the Fourth

Post by mnaz » July 3rd, 2008, 10:14 am

You know the liberals are desperate
when they resort to the bill of rights.
Fat dripped from steel to livid charcoal.
Do you want yours with cheese, or not?
The bloodshot sky shot rumors across.
The enlightenment was a grease streak.
No one can agree when it started,
not even the Age of Reason.

Deep thump flowered in the blackened air.
I took my boys shooting last week.
I know a place up by the cut off.
The first rounds went off early.

The continent was ravaged for centuries.
No one claimed religion made any sense.
No one claimed World War Two either,
though plenty take credit.

Free will exploded on the night blood sky
like showering plagues of determinism.
Freedom is the possibility to say yes,
to haul an Eighteenth Century cannon
through the enlightenment.
I'll take mine with cheese.

I'll ignore like I've been doing for so many years now
BANG BOOM
Too much noise
For me to stand
Just an excuse for the right wing
To come out of the woodwork
So as to force everyone to comply
We may have gotten
Rid of the crown forever
But the new way seems
A bit like the one before it
Freedom needs to be a long deep thought
Not a short shallow explosion
That goes pop in the night
So everyone goes ohhh and ahhh
In a mindless way
My country tis of huh what
Think about it

mnaz... you're waving your freak flag,
as neil once sang... bang, bang, bang
pop, pop, pop... the stars the stripes
the blood drenched bill of rights for the left
we will never surrender to that
which we refuse to comprehend.

DtD : nice little rant you got going there.

Freak flag!?

Hey man, I'm just writing about a nice little summer barbeque.
And explosions. And a cannon.

That's all.

(Nice one, Dave)

Loads of fun learning about "the enlightenment".
Lots of cannons and gunpowder involved,
and stuffy shirt philosophers arguing.
The US was so enlightened it tried to
annihilate itself in the 1860's!
Jefferson had a lot of slaves,
but a way with words.
what a country...
(It ain't all bad).

And those images, whoa, idiosyncratic...
Kind of in a puckish mood.
I get that way sometimes.

Thanks Hest..

Jefferson had an affair with one slave
Sally Hemmings was her name
They had kids
But they were kicked out
He wanted the secret
Kept from reality
But a century later
The word came to light
The ancestors of the affair
They decided to talk
Now the evidents of Jefferson's way
Is a part of his history
There's a movie about it
Called "Jefferson In Paris"
There's even a relative
From the affair buried
Here in Madison
I've been to the grave
And have seen it
It was a shame
That the gravestone
Laid broken before me
But thanks to those
For pointing it out
For it never can be forgotten

A 145 years ago
Just yesterday as a
Matter of fact
The turning point
In the Civil War
Came a small but sleepy
Town that some how
Become the focus of the fight
It was at Gettysburg
That the two sides
Sought to annihilate
Each other for conquest
But the war went on
For another two more years
Until it came to an end

I just want to fit in
I want my flag back
I wish Alaska and Hawaii would
secede from the Union
I can't stand these polyester flags
gimmee forty eight stars on cotton

Image

Let's run it up the flag pole and see if anyone salutes
No hot dogs and hamburgers for me
you can hold the cheese
I will have mine with soy sauce and a side of noodles

I am a real live nephew of my Uncle Sam
born in a ghetto in Warsaw
I am refuse of teeming shores
No america is not all bad
America is not half bad
America is the mother of all bastard nations

I count my blessings every fourth
I thank the patriots of 1776
If not for them we might all be Canadians

Yes we need to get more enlightened
satori in Philadelphia
back to the good old days
When Barack was three fifths of a man
Boy he is all man these days
I am so proud of him
We be walking in tall cotton
when we gets the black man in the white house
Ok so nothing is going to change
so fucking shoot me while I am happy
but just let me put on my lapel pin first okay?

Hold the cheese
Nice one nazz
thanks for posting it

nice contemporary celebration here.....this holiday is about car sales...
how better to show your patriotism...buy a Hummer in a lot with a
million little red, white and blue plastic pennants......and we can all
bask in our freedom by charging shit we don't need....that's real freedom...to spend money you don't have....the freedom to charge...
no, not into battle...into debilitating debt......so let's fire up those
grills...send some charcoal smoke into the warming mixture of
pollutants and fire our Glocks in the air so the echoes of blazing
gunfire sends a shiver down the spine of any terrorists in our
neighborhood.....well I'm off to WalMart to show my loyalty to the nation.....maybe they'll be playing some ass kickin' jingles on the radio
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

The russet sunset
Drips tomato blood
A patriotic sacrifice
Bought in star mangled lives
Droplets drying dolefully
In the morning after mourning
When tragedies pile up
Into mountains of malaise

Tomato blood sizzle.
Morning ash blue.
Sun crawls up.
Nothing new
under the
sun.

btw...
"Haul a cannon around through the Enlightenment"...
Not sure why that catchphrase caught my eye and ear.
It doesn't even make sense. After all, the Enlightenment ended in 1804 or something like that, just about the time manifest destiny started to crank up here on the 'ol continent (and Napoleon on the other continent). Toto, we're not in the Enlightenment any more. We're in the.... well, I'm not sure what we're in now...

"Damn right"!
"Sad-am learned the hard way".
Beer bellies and multiple ketchup stains.
Got a great deal on a new V-10
with dual chrome paycheck lighters.
It'll put you back in your seat.
It'll put you back..

Why is it I can still see the cannon smoke
drifting across the Big Box lot,
over a sea of glinty chrome hulks?

Oh, we'll never give up the cannon.
That would be foolish, of course,
though the biggest gun
ain't always the one.
.
.
.
Sorry, can't help it.
Those hulking machines are such........ easy targets.
These things write themselves. Where's my compassion?
