We the people

Post by mnaz » July 6th, 2008, 5:20 pm

The Wall came down; thanks Ron.
Now that we won the Cold War,
we get to fight the Hot War.
We get the Big Boxes.
Relax and procreate.
Whip out yr. plastic.

Slide your mystic visions.
I won't be satisfied until I fix a price on each twig.
We were right, greed certainly is human nature.
We bombed 'em back to sticks and stones
'cause they tried to take our stuff.
Unacceptable.

I want a sandwich.
We the people want a sandwich.
We get to fight the Hot War.
Gird my loins.

We won. I want a sandwich.
We ship out tomorrow for the derricks.
Does a victor in the victor's throes
need any explanation?

Ronald Reagan was elected by a sound bite and some sneaky smoky back room politics. Hey, don't look at me. It's the only sure thing we trusted at the time, but we've come a long way since then, haven't we?

I don't see the parallel between China today and Germany in 1936. :?
I kind of see a parallel to Weimar Germany and US but maybe worse.

Like you say we will see. But I can't deal with the day to day campaign coverage., I am going to blow up my TV and vote for Obama no matter how many lapel pins he wears.

I love how you do that mnaz, such whimsical satire
almost cheers me up

Thank you

As if obama would make a difference to we the people
Maybe if he spoke Chinese?
China been at the civiliazation game for thousands of years longer than we have. And where are they are on the global union scale?

We the people
American People
Chinese People
Indian People
Russian people
all the peoples of the world

still people
aren't they?
Still got to be me
Still got to have that flat panel TV
a chicken in ever pot
Big box stores
and sanwhiches

Sorry
if I have I tagged your poem mnaz
I would be happy to delete this if you want me to.

We the people, in order to line some CEO's gangster pockets...

The founding fathers were hypocritical. (Not exactly a news flash).
But at least they were eloquent. And preferred war-like poetry. Boom Boom BOOOOM!!

Well, the US beat back the socialist scourge, and now the whole world is converting to capitalism and beginning to swallow up the red/white/blue. Careful what we wish for! Yes truck, we should wave that American flag made in China proudly! Though mother earth certainly has her misgivings about the whole thing...

Indeed, satire is best when so full of girth and mirth, GM.
We the people, tied up in chains in order to watch a more perfect disunion.
Balance is key I maintain.
Today our end of the scale is touching ground.
So you can have half of my sandwich okay? It's PB and J.
Anyone else willing to share?

Nice write Mnaz.

sharp observations that we need to keep reminding ourselves of....
the poet has to tell it like he sees it, and that's a good thing...
to be vigilant, we mustn't get lulled to sleep....or distracted by fatigue, or electronic amusement.......
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

"We the people want a sandwich." Ha! Where did I get that?

Never poeticize after a couple beers on an empty stomach...

Thanks saw, hesty, & Jack...

We the people
Should resist the
Temptation of falling
Into that pitfall
Of belligerence
Otherwise we'll end
Up in the same
Predicament as before
Rise up is what I
End it forever
It's the 21st century
Time to let go of
Those past ways
And embrace a newer
And different view
One that will show
That we the people
Have choosen to be good

Yes Dave, or at least look up more often from a mind-sucking materialistic lather and knee-jerk nationalism. If fat-jowled, slit-tongued politicians and multinational behemoths want to fuck with us and make our troops into little more than corporate mercenaries, and abuse our "national defense", then maybe, just maybe, at some point we should tell them to fuck off in turn. Just a thought. Yes, I know. Some would say that the all-volunteer US military has a mercenary dimension, and that is true to a point; but the corporate hijacking and graft grows ever more transparent and blatant, if anyone bothers to look. And I didn't even mention "collateral damage" yet. But it can't be avoided, right? When going up against the Axis of Evil, these things are bound to happen... Not only that, war is human nature, a given, so get over it. Be a good patriot and listen to your VP. He knows what must be done...

There. It's outta my system now.

No, I promise this time.

Maybe I should actually try to write some poetry now..
Or not.
