Hey! Went to the free clinic today....

Signed on as their new caseworker.
I gotta great gut feeling about it.
They are in a bit of flux. Seems the Director (who was a lobbyist) left. Part of a mutual agreement with the board. I think this might mean more hours for me sooner than I thought. :D
I also got to look around the office. Saw where i'll be planted, taking in the folks with chronic illnesses who need medical care and have no insurance.
I'll be listening to their stories, lifting their weary spirits, ( which always lifts mine), assessing their needs, performing empathetic reality checks, informing the doc's of what they need and then looking around for agencies where they might be eligible for assistance. A very useful, down to earth job.
I don't care right now, this minute, that it pays shit and that i'm probably going to have to get a second job.
I'm just screaming glad about the work, about the place, it's a kind, hip place where I can get my elbows in the sink and help folks out. Folks who are in the struggle and seeking a way out. My kinda peeps!!!!!!!
Ah the rewards are so much more delicious when they seem like rare old friends......
Maybe by next month I'll have my own little abode again too!
Oh joy.
C'mon, jump up and down with me....shout hallelujah, celebrate the possibility of authenticity in the workplace with me! I really think that this gig will be some of that.....
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Doreen, I would be honored to lift your spirits anytime.
Especially since you have so often and so kindly lifted my own with your brilliant writing, your wonderful editing, but most of all your incredible, rare and wonderful aura...which shines so brightly and lovely here
oh, and did I forget your music? No, dear you are indeed, an ongoing gift!
and I mean it!
